madteaparty
I generally have a hard time finding audiobooks in French. DS just finished Un Bon Petit Diable and did not love it. He read all the Petit Nicolas ones, as well as anything I could find on audible (ie Contes pour Enfants etc). I'm thinking of this one next, because he read it in English a few years ago, and I find the audio version online. But is it too hard? a little bit hard is good, him being totally lost not so good :) Would The Stranger or say Around the world in 80 days be somewhat easier? They are shorter... DH going to Paris soon and I'm thinking of having him get some books on CD, because this calibrating is sort of a pain. Also, to make this post useful to someone else other than me ;) I saw this news recently--e-books available for sale at Albertine (French Embassy's reading room in NYC): http://albertine.com/e-books-now-available-for-purchase-at-albertine/
Loesje22000
Abrégé or Integrale? We have this one (different cover): http://www.amazon.fr/Sans-famille-Abr%C3%A9g%C3%A9-Hector-Malot/dp/201002169X/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1458672366&sr=1-1&keywords=sans+famille+livre+poche And that is 'cinquieme' according the French way of counting: http://www.livredepochejeunesse.com/spip.php?page=recherche&recherche=sans+famille The Kindle is loading for the moment, but I hope to come back to share how she classifies the integrale edition.
madteaparty
Integrale, this is the one we have: http://www.amazon.com/SANS-FAMILLE-Int%C3%A9grale-Volumes-Enti%C3%A8rement-ebook/dp/B018QZZFK0/ref=sr_1_3?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1458674950&sr=1-3&keywords=sans+famille
Loesje22000
We have a different Kindle text I think, http://www.amazon.com/famille-French-Edition-Hector-Malot-ebook/dp/B005Q3DNA0?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_d_detailpage_o06_ dd checked our text and she thinks it is a level harder. She considered our Abrégé Edition last year too hard when she was still in CE2 level and had a lacking attitude for French. Sorry I'm not a better help. Ds read first three chapters today and declared it ok. We will see when he has to write a summary of it for tutor ;)
Loesje22000
Thank you! Ds read first three chapters today and declared it ok. We will see when he has to write a summary of it for tutor ;) DD said last night she would be able to read the Abrégé edition now, and the Integrale edition 'soon'. She reads now detectives like Maigret (George Simenon). And we planned to read 'Barbe Bleu' from Nathalie Nothombe, next year. It is an adult book, with lot of conversations (as opposite to a lot of descriptions) but it is very funny. I don't know if a 11 yo would consider it funny too. But DH says dd has to learn a certain grammar aspect before reading te book.

I have French books coming out of my ears, but the audio version much harder to come by.We are totally behind on grammar, there's entire verb tenses we have not done yet, but we are working on it! CLE progressive intermediate level is really great
