Doran
I'm not so great with finger food, apparently. I'm meant to bring food to share at a political event on Wednesday. Usually, I'm known for great salady type things. I also do well with "California roll" sushi (no raw fish or things that spoil easily), but not sure that fits. What else? Jen500
I think Cal. roll would be be a great finger food.
ticklbee
I would consider California rolls a finger food. Easy to pick up and pop em in your mouth. I say go for it. Dh and I LOVE sushi. It's one of our favorite foods.
Plucky
Sure, just don't forget the wasabi.
Jenny in Atl
Sushi (light) sounds great.
mommaduck
Sushi is definitely a fingerfood ;)
Doran
Sure, just don't forget the wasabi. This is why I questioned the finger nature of this food. Wasabi and soy sauce aren't the easiest things to manage communally. I'm not sure whether the hostess will be providing little cocktail plates or just napkins, in which case the goopy things that are so intrinsic to sushi are more questionable, don't you think? Plucky
That's true. It's just so hard for me to think about eating sushi without it. :)
Doran
That's true. It's just so hard for me to think about eating sushi without it. :) Sushi w/out wasabi or soy sauce is pretty useless, in my book. I think I'll email the hostess to ask about plates vs. napkins. Hoping it will work out. I love making sushi! :001_smile:
sleepy
Heck yeah! I just had some earlier, ate it all up with my fingers. I agree with the wasabi, and pickled ginger slices are nice, too.
fivetails
I agree with the wasabi, and pickled ginger slices are nice, too. Wasabi is the Best Thing Ever :D pickled ginger, on the other hand, tastes like SOAP. :tongue_smilie:
G&KMCKee
Well some people can eat it with chopsticks.
mommaduck
Some are fine eating with chopsticks, but many are made to be eaten with fingers. There are online videos about sushi etiquette.
Chris in VA
I've always wondered--do you just pop the whole thing in your mouth--no biting? Chris in VA The Sushi-Ignorant
Plucky
That's what I do. When I first tried sushi I tried biting it and the whole thing fell apart. I'm a popper now. LOL

Usually, I'm known for great salady type things. I also do well with "California roll" sushi (no raw fish or things that spoil easily), but not sure that fits. What else? Go for it!! For our piano recitals, someone always brought a nice, freshly prepared tray of sushi and it was devoured. Just be prepared to jump out of the way quickly! Slartibartfast
I've always wondered--do you just pop the whole thing in your mouth--no biting? Chris in VA The Sushi-Ignorant I do but I can stick a whole boiled egg in my mouth. I think sushi rolls would be great.
Doran
Just be prepared to jump out of the way quickly! Traditionally, I made sushi annually on the occasion of a big barn party we hosted. I made a LOT of sushi, and I swear sometimes it would be devoured before I even had a chance to have a piece myself! Luckily, I had all the ends at home to eat when everyone else had gone away. :001_smile:
Rosie_0801
What about serving it on a dip platter so there is somewhere to put the soy sauce?
