What to eat during a tkd tournament?

Energy bars, pistachios, cheese sticks, strawberries, grapes, mandarins, pita chips, bananas, chocolate milk boxes, yoghurt in those tubes are some of the things that we take to TKD tournaments. Our tournaments don't allow food inside, so we walk over to the car park and eat there.

I always have a "The Complete Cookie" on hand in situations like these. My kids won't touch an actual protein bar like thing, but 3 out of 4 will eat these (the other is my pickiest sweet eater).  We can get them locally at Academy Sports, Vitamin World, Publix, and the new Walmart Marketplace is even selling them.

Make sure they have and drink their water.  Our TKD tournaments don't allowed colored drinks in the competing areas.  In DD's first TKD tournament, she was 7 seconds from winning her sparring match when she was pulled by medical because of lightheadedness (dehydration and probably lack of calories as the tournament ran super late and her lunch had worn off hours before sparring). I saw she hadn't been drinking her water I had sent her between rounds and figured that she had left it with her bags where they went and geared up into their spar gear.  Turned out it was sitting by the door, but no one realized it.

We do a simple trail mix (nuts, chocolate pieces, and raisins) and fruit:  bananas, watermelon, and/or mango.  After the touney we go for tacos!

Jenn, I don't know if they have this where you are, but I buy small packets of powdered hydration/electrolite solution at the pharmacy.  The pack is mixed in a bottle of water, and it's colorless.
