Grade 3: Would you use Treasured Conversations alongside ELTL?

I have been using ELTL this year with my 8 yo DS, and have really been enjoying it....it is a beautiful program.  As I posted on the other 3rd grade writing thread (apologies - I don't know how to reference it, or link it....) it has helped immensely in getting him over his aversion to writing.

However, I can see a need (and a readiness) in him to begin producing some original writing.  He is an avid reader with a great vocabulary....and weak mechanical writing skills that could use work.  He would benefit from more writing practice (meaning the physical act of writing, not composition just yet....)

I have been eyeing Treasured Conversations for quite some time and am wondering if it would be a workable complement to ELTL....or would it be too much?

Also - DD is in 6th Grade.  She is a decent writer, but could use a bit more structure in learning to outline, take notes etc - independent of frameworks provided in her writing class....would TC be helpful in her case as well?

I haven't used Treasured Conversations, but we are adding Write On! once a week.  Since ELTL is only 3 days per week, it hasn't been overkill for us.  I schedule it on a different day, so they don't end up with two writing assignments in one day.

I have ideas about combining TC and ELTL3, but don't know whether the practice will be as great as my theory.

See posts 33 and 34 of the following link: http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/239259-bringing-karens-mention-of-essay-writing-to-a-new-thread/?do=findComment&comment=2363522 .

My DS is dyslexic/dysgraphic and started homeschooling in 7th grade.  8Fill's writing philosophy and supports align perfectly with all that I have experienced WRT teaching and writing supports and my son.  For that reason, I want to use TC with my youngest child.

I love ELTL mainly because of the short story/book, fables, and poem selections, so I want to combine those elements of ELTL with TC.  If TC becomes too much, I will save it for 4th grade and proceed as usual with ELTL3.  Clear as mud?
