rockermom
Which Life of Fred book would you recommend I get for a 9 year old (4th grader) whose main math is Saxon 6/5? He completed Apples through Dogs a while ago. Does he really need to pick back up with Edgewood, or can he jump in with Kidneys?

abba12
If he's doing Saxon 6/5 then Kidneys Only reason to go back to Edgewood is if he wants the story. In fact at 6/5 he's nearly ready to jump right into the fractions and decimals sets imo
luuknam
The author's view: http://www.stanleyschmidt.com/FredGauss/21%20Questions/1020%20Where%20to%20Start.html Personally, I'd probably ask around if anyone you know has Edgewood-Mineshaft or so that you can borrow, for the story and a quick review. Also, I thought Kidneys-Mineshaft were some of the weaker books of the series, story-wise and may or may not be needed for the math depending on how your kid is with math. rockermom
Yeah, I had read his views. According to ability (but not age), I should order Fractions. I wish someone nearby used LoF. This is a rural town and homeschoolers are scarce. I may just wait a bit and then order Fractions. Thanks!
