"Fun" Writing Curriculum?

Recommended Posts

Surely, this exists? My 10th grade dd is doing a live class 1x week throught Homeschool Connections Online and it is so boring & uninteresting.  At the very least, tolerable? We will be making a change after Christmas. Anybody's teen taken a writing course that they actually enjoyed? TIA.

My dd is doing the One Year Adventure Novel and she loves it. She has also enjoyed online classes with Bravewriter. Last year she partially did a class on Coursera that was done in cartoons. I did a quick look and didn't find it but hopefully its still there.

Good luck!

The basis of the BW courses are KidsWrrite Intermediate and Expository Essay. They give a great start in BW writing process and essay writing. My oldest also took High School Writing project and my middle one will take Literary Analysis in May which has a Shakespeare focus. We like best the Boomerang Book Club and those classes which work towards one or two finished papers as those classes listed.

although not a High School writing program, but because we just couldn't seem to find a good fit, I stopped trying for several years....and then I discovered Writing with Skill.  So, I guess it would depend on how much writing your child has done...but this seems to be a super good program...and I think in the end, my daughter will be a much better writer.

Is there a Bravewriter class in particular?

My DD is not quite HS, but she has taken several BW classes.  I would HIGHLY recommend Susanne Barrett's Shakespeare Literary Analysis course in the spring (I think it's Hamlet this year.)  Although DD was young, she loooooves the Bard and was allowed to take the class for the past two years. Both classes were excellent and I can't say enough good things about Susanne.  Honestly, I would highly recommend any course she teaches-she's amazing.
