housemouse
I saw this through Memoria Press and looks very interesting. They have chemistry, physical science and earth science. Has anyone used this particular science for middle school? What was your experience/likes/dislikes? Thank you in advance.
dauphin
Following. I really like a lot about this curriculum.
EmilyGF
I'm reading through Physical Science right now to prepare it for my son. It is definitely not from a secular view point, though all the science is sound. There aren't scripture verses referenced, instead the assumption of a God who has revealed himself and is the maker of all things. It does not talk down to students. At least one volume (not this one) has a section on learning how to learn well, which I thought was great. I think its biggest plus is that it is meant to be mastered. You, as parent, don't have to decide what to pick and choose. I haven't used some other Popular Christian Science Textbooks, but my friends who have used them to teach co-op classes disliked them and preferred these. I don't expect to begin to use these until December of January at the earliest, though, because we have a lot of stuff on our plate right now that needs to get finished up, and I don't want to overwhelm my kids! rdj2027
Wilson Hill uses the Student Lab Report Handbook. We are secular and so far I have not seen anything in the handbook that would point to a religious provider. If I had not looked it up online, I would have never known. It seems well written and so far it has been quite useful, particularly the sections about organization and planning  ETA: I would not use their physical science text as it seems to me that it mixes science with religion ( i.e. energy in the universe exists because God put it there). As far as I am concerned we cannot say and I am good with not knowing in science. In religion class I am open to that sort of thinking. arcara
My 9th grade daughter has been using Advanced Physics and Chmistry this year, but I can't say that I love it. It just doesn't have the support materials that I need, though they have recently added better answer keys upon request. The labs for it are just not doable at home for the most part. I wanted to love this, but we've found it rather frustrating. I'll be looking for setting else next year. Homeschooling science is my biggest frustration, right next to homeschooling my nearly 13yo ;)
