Cottonwood Posted September 29, 2015 Share Posted September 29, 2015 I'm still getting used to the line up this year. And it started accidentally but I have really been rooting for Gary Busey. I'm not a fan of his at all, and I know he's pretty well lost his every-lovin' mind to drugs and such, but from the first show on...he's had me dying laughing. True, it's b/c of his 'issues'...but for pure entertainment value, I am so glad he's lasted another week. He actually DID the dance assigned this week, according to the judges and for once, was not in jeopardy! Truth be told, yes, he's on borrowed time, I know. Otherwise, Bindi is amazing, as is the young Youtube teen, Hayes Grier, and Alek Skarlatos. I feel like it's always more interesting to watch once they get rid of the truly awful. Right now Gary and Paula need to go. Chaka Khan and the jockey are already out, so that's good. The rest all have some amount of potential, at least. I was so sorry that Tony had to drop out because of his partner's health issue. I wonder if Gary has a hearing loss. It seems like he is always turning to his partner to find out what is being said by Tom and Erin. I spent 15 years as a pro ballroom dancer so I HAVE to :) So far, Alek has really impressed me as as Lindsay's choreography. I like Alexa and Carlos too but I am reminded of Ralph Macchio's run - he was really good, like Carlos, and they nitpicked him to death, just as they are with Carlos.I also like Bindi and Nick's Viennese Waltz this week was absolutely wonderful. The cast this time, for the most part, is doing well and there are a lot of contenders. I hope they never ever make them do 2 dances in week 2 ever again though. It was too much for them so early on. Two of them (Bindi and Nick) had issues with getting music okayed. Bindi had to change songs and Nick didn't get his cleared till Thursday, so they were both behind in getting their routines down. The man had a brain injury and it's like he's on there to be made fun of in a way. I'm sure he agrees to do the shows, I just think the networks use his disability like a side show act. It happens to some extent every season. I don't see that as a complete advantage though. Ballroom is a completely different world than hip-hop/jazz/contemporary. From watching So You Think You Can Dance? where they are always talking about how difficult that transition is, I am inclined to think they start pretty much on the same level.
