My4arrows
Has anyone used this with either 4H or in their own? I was looking for something for my kids to learn to to care for and about farm animals and came across this. I was wondering how it was. My4arrows
So for those who have used it, is it good? We'd want them to learning since we will have the animals ourselves soon.

My4arrows
What animals are you getting? And are you and your SO knowledgeable in their care? Our hope for next spring was chickens, turkey, diary goats and maybe a hog. we are all just learning together and I wanted something for my kids (8 yo and below) to learn about the animals, their care, breeds, keeping them healthy. It'll be apart of their school work and my DH and I will be learning as well on our own. We are just starting out.
Jess4879
I ordered the Horse curriculum for my oldest and she started it this summer. She has been working through it solo and loving it. She uses library books and talks to people to find the answers she needs. She has learnt a lot.
BooksandBoys
I grew up in 4-H and my memory is of solid curriculum for most topics. I think you should give it a try.

That is a lot of animals all at once to be learning about from scratch and actually taking care of if you mean this as a for real thing and not just study. Personally, I'd choose just the chickens and turkey together at most. Or just goats. My own experience btw is that chickens are a lot easier than goats. And we had some very animal experienced neighbors who had to give up most of their goats because the goats were forever escaping and causing troubles. We had 4H chicken materials and they seemed pretty good from what I read of them, but we did not really use them in actual practice.

We are not starting all at once, although the kids would love that! Our plan is to add slowly and probably start out with the chicken as you said. I just listed everything in case someone has used a particular book and would comment on their thoughts for it. :)
Plink
I have several books and love them for studying for 4-H written tests, but don't they could be enough to count for a course for kids above 2nd grade.
