It says on the practice test intro page that the student decides when to use the calculator. Is that right? Will proctors ask students to put calculators away for some questions like they do with the SAT?

Huh? They don't tell students to put away the calculator for some questions on the SAT either. Students can have the calculator on the entire math section  - just not during the English section!

The student should be prudent in deciding when calculator use is actually quicker and when doing it without is faster.

Students can have the calculator on the SAT2 math test - and the proctor has no idea which question the student is working on.

They must put away the calculator when they are working on a different subject test.

FYI - new SAT has a no calculator Math section along with a calculator-allowed Math section not sure what the proctor procedure is for that.

Thank you MarkT. I knew I was getting all the muddled up info in my head from researching this and that, and all at the same time too, mixed up when I asked.
