Life of Fred Physics?

Recommended Posts

It's a nice set of applied ways to use the fractions/decimals and percents skills, and it's fairly easy to do the experiments Fred does at home with basic equipment, but it's in no way, shape, or form a full physics book. For elementary or even middle school physical science, Ok, but definitely not for high school.

I'm using it with my DD. I think of it as a supplement to both maths and science (we're doing physics, sort of). My husband really wanted me to teach scientific/engineering notation alongside decimals, so this text seemed perfect. She had done fractions & decimals/percents - lightly though.

We're going through it together and really enjoying it so far.

Would it be good alongside a math based physical science program?  I used Derek Owens Physical science for 8th grade and I thought it could have used a little bit more reading or practice. Just a little bit and for other kids it could have been just fine on its own.

I am thinking in a few years I might want to use it with Derek Owens with my younger boy. But I don't want to if it would be too much. I remember by 8th grade my kid was deep in the 'only what is necessary and mostly leave me alone' phase for school, lol.
