bluebonnetgirl
Is there any ready made curricula that is a writing program that begins with the student writing from a picture prompt? Maybe using the 5 w's? I am looking fr something like this for a child who thinks in pictures but has trouble with expressive language. I am exploring the use of writing to help with expressive language as well as writing skills. Once he is proficient from writing from pictures, I would like to evolve to short paragraphs. Heathermomster
No curriculum suggestion, but Dr. Charles Haynes discusses writing from pictures and developing vocabulary in a webinar he gave last fall. Guest
Emma Serl's books have a picture study component and incorporate grammar with a more natural approach (Charlotte Mason style). This is the intermediate book and some have published guides for it. http://www.amazon.com/Intermediate-Language-Lessons-Emma-Serl/dp/0965273571 Not sure if it meets your needs but you can find a free copy in the public domain if you want to see if it might work for you. I used the first book when my oldest was younger and he got a lot out of it where writing is concerned. I added other curricula for grammar. We have only had time to use the intermediate book occasionally. I am thinking of using the first book with my youngest also.
