Bible and Scripture Memory For Kinder??

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have recommendations for a Bible curriculum or devotional that includes Scripture Memory for Kinder age?  My older 3 have done school together for 3 years, but my youngest is now starting.  I have been using Long Story Short Devotional (Old Testament), but now we are part way through Short Story Long (New Testament).  I hate to jump her in at this point (although, yes she has sat in on some of it).  I used Leading Little Ones to God when they were young, but I don't seem to have it anyone.  For Scripture memory the older 3 use Sing the Word Cds.  We are now onto the longer ones, which will be too difficult.

Any ideas?  It would just be for my 5 year old.  I don't want to assume she can do the stuff my older 3 can do, but want to be sure we have a good foundation in Bible.  I don't want super intense because we do family devotionals at night and Awanas.  Thanks.

Don't they do Scripture memory as part of Awana? If so, I would give her a portion of whatever memory work the older ones are doing.  So if they are doing four verses, give her one of them, or a partial one.  Then they can all practice together. Our church as a Scripture memory thing and they set it up as K-2 and then 3-6 with the older ones memorizing a verse or two more than the younger from the same passage(s).  If you use the Sing the Word CDs just have her memorize the first part of the song.  I wouldn't try to do something completely different from the others unless you have to. Keep it simple.  =)

I've used Bible Study Guide For All Ages off and on since mine were little.  They have all loved the songs and memory work. They've memorized a lot (books of the Bible, 12 Sons of Jacob, Judges of Israel, etc.) and still remember what they've memorized.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. :)

My 3 yr old did AWANA last year and learned about 25 verses.  I made up songs to go with them based on familiar tunes he already knew.  That is what we are planning on continuing to use this year he will be 4.  For Bible we have a devotional we use:  Devotions for Preschoolers (has a topic covered, a bible verse and a prayer), then we read a Bible story from the Golden Children's Bible.  HTH
