lynn
Most fashion trends don't bother me for women my age for "to each his own." However, Are vans or converse just for young adults? myfunnybunch
Of course you're not too old for Vans! :) Wear them if you like them. No one is too old for cute comfortable shoes. Lots of women our age wear Vans in my (casual PNW) town.
Starr
Dd 21 says, "sure!" I think fun, casual shoes are great for all ages.
Mimm
I wouldn't think twice to see a woman of that age in those shoes. :)
KarenC
Appropriate, I hope. I wear converse often.
alisoncooks
Love them! But then again, I live in jeans and graphic tees....and I'm pretty sure I'm too old for that.
redsquirrel
I see them all the time on fashionable women in their 50s. I wouldn't even think twice about it. My uber fashonista SIL has many. If she does it, then it's fine. She is always tastefully dressed but in fashion.

Crimson Wife
Some items are best left to the teens & 20somethings but those shoes are fine. I was in Papaya the other day and saw some super-cute things that sadly looked ridiculous on me when I tried them on. I've got the physique to pull them off still but sadly my face is looking middle-aged these days & I don't have the cash for doing something about it at the dermatologist's. Aiden
I think it's fine. Heck, I know a woman in her 60s who's planning to buy some Mickey Mouse vans! It's all about what suits you, your personality, and your lifestyle; it isn't about age.

elegantlion
I bought a pair of Converse last year. I bought shoe inserts at the same time. I'm 48 with older knees.

texasmama
I am 48 1/2. I have a pair just like those except purple. Also, please note my avatar. If people don't like it, they can bite me on my almost 50 year old butt.

Spy Car
I'm as "old school" as they come, so I like Chuck Taylors on the basis of "style," but the fact remains that these are absolutely "crap" shoes and not a good orthopedic choice for a 50 year old, or a kid. They are junk. For good health choose something else, not these. Bill

Murphy101
Are you seriously asking if you are too old for sneakers? *confused* I couldn't care less about the brand. They are just sneakers. If you like them, wear them.
HRAAB
They're cute. I've never thought about anyone being too old for sneaker. I would wear them if I could but my feet would hurt and then my back would hurt.
alisoncooks
I agree with Bill on this one but there are new ones out that are supposed to have some support. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2015/07/23/the-new-chuck-taylors-will-actually-be-comfortable/ I was just gonna share this. I'm holding out hope that these are good for my (aging) feet!
SparklyUnicorn
I haven't had mine long enough to tell you how good they are. I'll just say that the soles are super thick and cushiony. I wore them all day today and they do not hurt my feet. And new shoes often hurt my feet. I would not consider these good athletic shoes. No no... They are more cute fun shoes for everyday wear.
SparklyUnicorn
It's ironic to comment about these shoes as opposed to the very typical stuff women wear which are in fact quite terrible for one's feet. I can't hack wearing most of that stuff.

Ali in OR
I think these styles are ageless. I got Vans in the spring that have very good support--and ever since my year of Plantar Fasciitis, I know what I need in a shoe. Converse may have some issues, and they're definitely too narrow for my feet, but the Vans rank among my most comfortable shoes.
Soror
I say wear what you like. fwiw as to what constitutes a healthy shoe, there are differing opinions and I'm disappointed in the style change myself.

SparklyUnicorn
And to add, I found my pair at Marshals for $30 which was half the price as what they were selling them at a store next to the Marshals around here.
Garga
I'd love to wear them, but the last time I tried on some Converse shoes they HURT. I was like, whaa..?? I'll have to try on the ones linked about that are supposed to be more comfortable. I insist on comfort in my shoes. Insist!
