kathkath
I'm watching the tablet class demo right now and I notice the teacher mumbles a lot. Has this been a problem with anyone whose kids have taken classes there?
nansk
I don't think he mumbles but he does speak too fast in places. I prefer lectures where the speaker clearly enunciates each syllable and word, and takes appropriate pauses, so that the listener has time to mentally absorb the material. If cost is not a factor, do consider the Maths courses by Derek Owens. He speaks clearly and slowly and his voice sounds much more pleasant.
SkateLeft
Yes. It was an issue for us. I bought the Algebra 2 course in 2013, and there were some mumbles, but the thing that REALLY bothered us was his pronunciation of certain words. He sounds like he swallows some words ("leener" for "linear," for example). We found it so distracting that we shelved the course before the end of the first week. I don't know if it's just the quality of the recording, but we found it pretty painful.
kathkath
Thank you! I like the idea of TC because she can go at her own pace. She is very good at math but only 10 (almost 11). I don't want the pace of an online class to frustrate her. Tough decisions!
MomatHWTK
Take a look at CTC Math. We have used CTC and TC and also like Plato.

Buy two workbooks at $20 each, and the parent materials at $68. Then watch the videos on youtube.
fastforward
I remember reading this thread a week ago and decided to come back and share something that I noticed. We're 5 minutes into it and my daughter and I immediately picked up on the instructor's pronunciation. It's too early to say it's a deal breaker, but I'll be listening closely.
