Hamelin Armtastics (youtube workout) followed by a short swim. I really want to do a long swim, but I need to make breakfast early, since dh has a football game. I don't want to swim afterwards when the sun is far too intense.

Primary Series done this am, the whole thing but I did not do chatarangas between the standing and sitting series. I'm taking it easy on the chatarangas with my shoulder, I think I want to watch it doing too much of any one move.

Core work and PT as well- 90 min total, feeling good today, hope it continues. I'll be doing some push mowing later (thank goodness the weather is much better this weekend) and likely to do a walk or bike ride as well.

All I ended up with yesterday was a walk since I was bleeding so heavy and didn't feel that great, not sure if I posted.

I did end up mowing (still hard work but not as hard as it wasn't as hot). We didn't end up going on a bike ride, we had all the bikes aired up and loaded but then got invited to visit some relatives in from out of state so we did that instead.

Today- I don't know! I got to bed late and had a hard time going to sleep so I'm not feeling too spunky today. I should have a PT appt and a walk. Don't want to do anything big so I'm not sore for tomorrow!

Rest day on Sunday. This morning I went to cardio day for the first time. I barely kept up, but I know I'll get there soon. On a positive note, I've lost 3.5 pounds in the last 30 days. Now I'm back to where I started back in March. If I keep losing the same amount, I'll be at my goal weight by the end of the year.

ETA: I keep having to remind myself that it's not the number that counts. I need to focus on how much better my body works. On the other hand, I do care how I look. If I can fit into my current clothes comfortably, I'll be happy. If I can move down a size, I'll be ecstatic.

I went for a hike!      And I got lost  :leaving: , but found my way back to camp dispite the crummy map from the campground. Phew! I pictured my dd and her friends having to send out a search party.   That would have ended badly, I think.  Anyway, we're all home safe and sound and the rain has stopped so I'll get to play some tennis on the new bright blue courts!!  :hurray:

I think the only person who could get me out of bed that early is dh. If only so that I can have him to myself for two whole miles a day. With five kids we rarely get more than a few minutes at a time to be alone.

Exactly.  Plus my husband is trying to get in better shape and this is the only time he can do it.  I don't know whether I'll be able to keep it up though.  I was cross all day from sleepiness.  We did 3 miles this morning.  Drinking coffee now....

I took a page from all of you and drug dh on another walk before he goes to work. We did 3.5 miles. I will run later after he goes to work. He's got an unusual later shift today. I know I can't change him ( and he has some real health problems.) he will however look at a walk as " couple time" so I'm pushing those.

I'll get in a bike ride this morning before the rain returns. Tomorrow, Canada Day, ds 13 and I will run our 10k race. Should be interesting, as neither of us has been training at running very hard. We both prefer doing cross-training. ;)  Oh well, we will get a t-shirt out of it, and it will show us how our aerobic fitness level is. I'm hoping that we'll be pleasantly surprised (but not holding my breath).

Started something new with dh- walking before he leaves for work.... at 4:15 a.m.  2 miles done.  That's all I'm doing this week besides stretching and maybe some abs or a kata thrown in everyone once in a while.

I'm pretty sure I don't have it in me to get up that early to take walks with dh. I love the man and all but at 4 a.m. I'm not feeling that love.

Upper body/abs video and extra bonus arms. I lifted heavy now that my shoulder seems to be back normal. Now my arms feel like over cooked noodles.

I ran 4 miles yesterday, and 4 miles today, plus 400yd swim.

Yesterday I learned that the woman who taught me yoga earlier this year died.  She, her husband, and youngest daughter died in a plane crash (the one in MA).  They were going there for a college visit.  Besides having her for 2 months of private lessons, she also filled in for the class I later took.  She was an incredible teacher and person.  I was in so much shock all day yesterday, and I still am.  And I feel so sad for their oldest daughter.  She lost her entire family in a day.  Her girls were close to my girls age, her oldest recently finished college.

Hug your loved ones, and hold them close.

Kim so sad. Good advice. I'm sorry for such horrible news.

Kim, I'm so sorry. That's so sad.

I've been getting lots of sleep and feel fine, but the downside is that whenever that happens, I really don't get to exercise. I have to choose between sleep or exercise. It's too hot here to exercise for much of the day. Things get in the way, obligations and distractions. Yet I also need my sleep.

rieshy you are a better woman than I am to walk that early. Is it daylight there at that time? Here it isn't light until 5 something, certainly not bright enough to be outside walking.

Kim- I'm sorry about your loss :(

I did my class yesterday- SQUEEEE- so HARD and so FUN. My body was trying so hard to figure out what in the world they were telling me to do, it is not often that one does something entirely new and this is so different than anything else I've done. She did say I was very strong and she wasn't concerned about me practicing any of the strength work at home, except the hollow body. However, I know I may be strong for the average beginner but I will have to have a lot more strength to move up with it and I need to start working the pull-ups as hard as the push-ups just to balance it all out anyway. The skill and technique stuff, I need lots of work on but can't do that at home.

Today- likely no walk- 100% thunderstorms today, Yoga- core- Shoulder/neck PT

Ds and I completed our 10k race this morning with great success! He did very well for his first 10k. I'm surprised at how much easier on the body 60min of running is compared to 60min of singles tennis. That's good news for me today! ;)

Funny you should share this... when I read your earlier post prior to the race my thought was exactly this.  Running 30 minutes at steady pace is easier for me cardio-wise than any 5 minute sparring match.

Still taking the week off of weights and martial arts and running but did a 4:30, 3 mile walk with dh.  I don't know if I can keep this up.  I'm not able to fall asleep early enough to make up the lack of sleep but I hope so, my dh is so excited about it.  In other news my arthritis is flaring up worse than it's done in years.  I actually almost cringed when I shook a man's hand yesterday and he wasn't being a jerk with a tight grip.  Even my shoulder joints hurt, I sleep on my side usually so it's been really hard to find a way to get comfortable.  I'm to the point that I'd welcome suggestions by even a know snake oil salesman.  Maybe my body just really misses martial arts.

wintermom- congrats on the 10k

rieshy- I hope the arthritis lets up soon.

yesterday was more laid back for me, lots of cleaning and then some PT, core, small walk, yoga just some moving around and doing whatever I wanted. Lots of little bits of activity but nothing big at one time.

I made a new AMRAP on (regular) push-ups- 20! A pretty solid 20 too.

Today I plan for a longer yoga session, need to get in gear!

Ok 30 min Short and Sweet #3 done, not long but challenging, I was just able to completely do this a couple of weeks ago. Yoga hasn't been feeling that great but this was pretty good, my neck is getting there slowly, as is my shoulder. I have moments here and there where it feels like my head is not quite attached- it is an odd sensation but mostly it is not bothering me.

Snicker!!!!!!!

fwiw I'm reading Move Your DNA right now :)

Last night dh and I ended up walking 6.4 miles  We couldn't do the 7+ we wanted because of the storms we've had (trees are down at the trail entrance which is not a good sign :()

Today I will have a training session and then spend 30-45 minutes in the gym doing cardio of various flavors.

Kim, I'm sorry to hear about your yoga instructor.

Luckymama, congrats on 6.4 miles! Whenever I walk more than 3 miles, my feet get achy. I can't imagine walking more than double that.

I have so much to do this morning, I'm not sure if I should work out. But the next two weeks will be even busier.

Well, my body came back to bite me last night. I played 2 hours of doubles tennis in the evening (which I do most days without any issues), and my legs felt like lead by the end. So while the 60 minute run doesn't hurt as much at the time, it certainly takes its tole if you want to exercise afterwards. ;)  So don't plan your run before your sparring match.

I was active off and on all day yesterday, after breakfast I did a walk with the kids and then before bed as well. We practiced some stuff on my TRX straps, like holding your body up straight, which is really hard. I tried dips but on moving straps it is beyond my skill level! I keep on trying to nail a full pull-up from dead hang but I'm just not there (almost!). I practiced the hollow body hold off and on all day too, I can get it with one leg pretty solid but when I put that other leg out I get about 1 second before I lose my form. Lots of squats and various other stuff.

Today's plan- some walking and/or some biking, light yoga and core work.

Played a short doubles tennis match yesterday (only 1 hour), and I'll be playing tennis this evening. Otherwise, I'll walk the dogs a few times today and maybe even get started with dh on some flooring work in dd's room. I'm not looking forward to any kneeling on the ground, though. My left knee has issues. ;)

Storms and then a home project made yesterday a "rest" day (I pulled up the carpet, all the tacking, staples, and nasty padding, so not really much of a rest).

This step in the flooring is so much fun! It's really satisfying to see so much progress in such a short time. My ds 11 turned out to have some excellent natural ability with removing tacking. You just never know what hidden talents emerge until you try out a few different things.

I ended up being pretty lazy did some pull-up and core work; otherwise not much, wasn't feeling as spunky as I thought (probably due to the 2.5 y.o. kicking me in the back half the night) dh didn't feel up to anything either so I did some work around the house and watched Firefly.  Waiting for dh to wake up today to see what he wants to do. Might do a short and sweet yoga in a bit.

Friday: 2 mile walk with family.

Saturday: 5 mile walk with dh.  Plus my 20 yo's boyfriend taught me (and 3 of my boys) how to juggle.  Very fun- my house looks even more like a circus gym.

Off to check up on Snickerdoodle's video suggestions....
