brynndolyn
I'm planning our upcoming school year. I have a 2nd grader, 1st grader, pre-k (will be 5 in October), plus a 2 year old and a 9 month old. Here is a sample day. I'm just keeping a checkbox list in OneNote, I have more detailed plans for history and science but this is just kind of a "to-do" list for each day. All the stuff in the morning involves me except for the two olders working on their math worksheets and questions. Morning Bible during breakfast Boys start on Math worksheets/morning questions Math lesson with 1st grader Math lesson with 2nd grader Reading with pre-k Writing with pre-k Cursive with 2nd grader WWE with 1st and 2nd grader Spelling with 1st and 2nd grader History or science with everyone During nap time Grammar with 1st grader while 2nd grader practice piano Grammar with 2nd grader while 1st grader practice piano 1st grader reading (on his own) 2nd grader reading (on his own) This is 4 times a week. Friday we'll do an art lesson, then catch up from anything else we may have missed during the week. Possibly a co-op or something as well but I honestly don't know if I can pull it off or not. My 2 year old is a holy terror quite honestly, I feel this year is going to be a struggle to get everything done. We also do an evening read aloud, this past year we read all of the Chronicles of Narnia and we are working through the Little House books now. I think next up will be The Hobbit but we will see. I feel like I'm missing things. I'd like to do some kind of morning time but it hasn't gone well in the past with the 2 year old which makes me reluctant to try again until he's a bit older. It's frustrating for all of us. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated!
Jean in Newcastle
I think you have more than plenty for the ages of your kids. You're doing fine :)
kateingr
Looks great! You migHt want to occasionally discuss your 1st and 2nd graders independent reading with them or have them read aloud a little as a check on their fluency. ..but if you can do all this with five kids, you're doing a fantastic job!
