Please help me with WWE

I need some help figuring out how to get started. I will have a 3rd grader and 2nd grader next year, both with very little writing instruction.

3rd grader-excellent reader and speller. Writing is a struggle because mom hasnt been consistent. We did PLL a bit and EIW 2 last year. He has no clue how to write a paragraph.

2nd grader-still learning to read. Haven't done any writing except for copywork.

What levels do you recommend and what should I buy? Thank you!

If I were you, I would buy the instructor text. That way you have all the instructions for all the levels. WWE can easily be accelerated or slowed down if you need to and if you have the instructor text, it will be easier to do. I would start your 3rd grader in WWE 2 and if he's great at it, then just accelerate (spend fewer weeks on each section before moving on). I would start with Level 1 for the 2nd grader and do the same thing until you find places where they are comfortably challenged.

Well, we've done WWE1 and WWE2.

For your second grader, still just learning to read, I'd suggest WWE1.  It's copywork and narration.

For your third grader, I'm not sure.  WWE2 is narration, copywork, and dictation.  There is no writing paragraphs in it.  There might be in WWE3, but if it's being newly introduced, it's not an expected skill yet either.  The more important criterion will probably be his ability to summarize what has happened in a chunk of text that he's listening to.  If you read 2-3 paragraphs to him, can he summarize the main narrative thread in 3 or so sentences?  If so, definitely go with WWE3.  If not, maybe start with WWE2.

For your third grader, try the diagnostic evaluations to help you find the righ level - http://downloads.peacehillpress.com/pdfs/samples/wwe/wweevaluations.pdf

I'd start the second grader with WWE1.

I prefer the workbooks to the instructor text. You can buy the ebooks off the Peace Hill Press website. That way you can use it with all your children. It's cheaper overall.
