Home remedies for skin tags

I"ve used Frankincense and ACV successfully in removing moles but I"ve read it works for skin tags the same.  For each, I soaked a small piece of cotton ball and held it in place by a band aide.  ONce a day after a shower i replaced it with a fresh piece of cotton ball.

For the Frankincense, it needs to be diluted (I mixed in warmed/liquid coconut oil..very weak mixture) before applying to the skin or it will burn..it's very strong.  I kept it on the skin for 2 wks then got tired of doing it so I stopped.  I noticed the mole shrinking (dissolving?) but forgot about it.  ABout 2 months later I noticed it was totally and completely gone and the skin underneath showed no signs that it had ever been there. lol  don't know what happened, exactly, or when, but it is gone.

ACV, I only lasted about 4 wks with this but the mole came off within that time and I knew when it happened.  Given the vast price difference, and the fact that the AVC is much more comfortable on the skin with no dilution, I'd go that route, personally.

I'm interested as well.  Tying floss on it would freak me out....what if I couldn't get it off if it didn't work?  And putting a bandaid on that area doesn't work...it's on my thigh and I guess my thigh just gets really well heated during the day and the adhesive becomes really strong because by the end of the day it's nearly impossible to remove. *sigh* :/

I tried the clipping off thing and almost passed out.

As I get older I keep getting more and more tags and also seborrheic keratosis (dry, scaly moles). I would love a home remedy for that too!  I'm glad DH loves me...I'm going to be an old moley woman!  <_<

I have an area like that with a mole I"d like to try to remove.  I read that the same idea of a the cotton ball held by the band aide could still work if done overnight ..it might take longer but it would still work.  I think I'm going to try it.

I'd have to cover it with a bandage then though... :/

Actually, mine were in my armpit and I couldn't have easily used a bandage.  It only bleed a tiny little bit after I snipped it off. I think I used a styptic pencil to stop the bleeding on one ( that stung a bit) and on the other one I just let it go. it stopped on its own pretty quickly.

Honestly, if a mole is involved I would want to see a doctor to make sure you are not dealing with something like melanoma.

Here's what we did for one that was in an annoying area:

Soap the area to clean bacteria off the skin

Rub on an analgesic cream (something with lidocaine in it, there are several OTC options)

Ice it really, really well.

Clip it off with a sterile nail or embroidery scissors, pushing into the base of it a bit as you snip it off, so it is flush with the skin level.

Quickly cover with triple antibiotic ointment, then apply pressure for a long time to avoid it bleeding a lot. (I had styptic powder and cayenne powder close by since I had no idea how much it would bleed.)

Finally, put a Band-Aid on if needed.

It was a bit scary the first time, but so far there hasn't been a second one so I can perfect my new skills.  :001_rolleyes:

As I was trying to say earlier when the site wouldn't let me post, I have removed a few simply by smothering them with a bandaid. I put the bandaid on and just left it for a week to ten days. When I took the bandaid off, the tag had "died" and came off with it. I was really surprised the first time it happened, because I had just put the bandaid on it to keep my clothes from rubbing it and making it sore.
