Knoxville area hotel help needed

We'll be going to dh's family reunion in a small Tennessee town in June, but there are no decent hotels in the actual town. We thought we'd try to find something a little further out and Knoxville is probably our best choice simply because it has the most options (it's about an hour away but that's fine).

Can anyone give me suggestions where to look and/or where to stay away from? We'll need to take 25E to where we're going (New Tazewell area) and could either go on 81 to 25E or 25E all the way. Regardless, we'd like easy access to them. Morristown would be okay too, but I didn't see any hotels I felt we'd be happy staying in. If I missed something, I'd be glad to revisit. We aren't looking for 5 star but more like Hilton level.

Anyway, I'm not really looking for specific hotel recommendations, but information on what area to look at or not look at.

Thank you.

Morristown has a fairly new Holiday Inn Express. I haven't stayed there, but it looks nice. A step below HIlton though. Knoxville has a bunch of new hotels at the Papermill exit. You might want to look there. In truth, Knoxville has a huge variety of locations you could stay. If it is a better hotel, you will be fine in any of the areas.

Thanks. I just booked that Holiday Inn Express. We don't travel much anymore so I'm not up to speed on the best ways to find hotels. My first thought was "Ask at WTM. I'll bet someone there is familiar with the area." :D

If you have any time to kill, McKay used book store is like a block away and worth a visit :)  Also, Krispy Kreme.

Lots of restaurants not too much of a drive from there, Aubrey's, Krispy Kreme, Menchie's, Five Guys.  I've passed the hotel lots of times, and it looks pretty nice. :) Good choice.  And excellent neighborhood.  Love McKays! Good suggestion The Girl's Mom. Traffic has gotten a bit heavier since Whole Foods moved in though.  I know you wouldn't be able to check anything out, but if you want something else to kill a bit of time there's a library just down the road.  Oh and the mall is not too far either.

The one in Morristown or Papermill exit Knoxville. (Everyone is talking about the one in Knoxville btw. Morristown has no McKays or Krispy Kreme...)
