Today's the day!

DD10 is hosting her Save the Frogs! event today. She's been working and planning this for months and getting her support together. She has her mentor and several college and grad students coming down to do evaluations for the Environmental Science Showcase (which will include DD presenting her research project), lots of stations of activities for kids to learn about frogs and about environmental science, leading stream projects and helping the kids learn to identify various pond and stream life (probably mostly invertebrates, given where we are, but possibly salamander larvae, with a possibility of tadpoles where there's ponding). She has the homeschool moms in our math and mythology groups bringing refreshments and running games/craft projects. She has a whole table of book donations to sell to benefit the Save the Frogs! organization and a whole table of free literature from a range of organizations for people to take, that she's been contacting groups to get for months.

It really has been mostly her. She'd done this event for the last two years for just our homeschool group, but this is the first time that it's been opened to the wider community.

I'm proud of her-and praying it won't rain! (We do have an alternative venue, but somehow the gym at the local community center just isn't the same....)

It went  pretty well. It was wet and drippy most of the time, but the kids seemed to enjoy themselves, and so far, before any internet donations come in, we raised $145, so that's good.

There are a bunch of photos and some videos on her My Little Python FB page.
