jellybean58
This may seem like an odd question to ask here, but I'm confident in your expertise--- What is a good and easy to use by someone who has never taught before phonics program, for a classroom with 10 or fewer children? We are currently using Spalding and finding it too cumbersome, plus we would like to choose our own handwriting program. Thank you!

ElizabethB
Blend phonics was designed for a classroom and has how to use in a class instructions, free from Don Potter!

We are currently using Spalding and finding it too cumbersome, plus we would like to choose our own handwriting program. Thank you! Although Spalding is my favorite (yes, I have taught it in a classroom), and in spite of its cumbersome-ness (or because of it) all my students improved by several grade levels by the end of the school year, the Victory Drill Book could be used in a classroom. No frills, no fun-and-games, straight-to-the-point phonics. And it's inexpensive.

Coco_Clark
LOE Foundations includes both classroom and homeschool instructions. It's fairly pricy, however, considering each student would need his own wkbook. You could easily use a different handwriting or the included, and skip the card games (and the need for game cards). The more active games are WAY more fun with extra people. My oldest had to do them just with me, and now that second is in the program we drag him in with us for three!
ElizabethB
You could pair Blend Phonics with my concentration game, with 10 students or below, you can put them in groups of 3 to 4 students, they keep score after learning how to play, you float between groups and keep order and resolve disputes about what is a real or nonsense word. http://www.thephonicspage.org/On%20Phonics/concentrationgam.html You need one set for each group. desertflower
I use phonics pathways. I don't see why it couldn't be used for a classroom of 10 kids. It's one book for $20. (Unless it's gone up in price). There's an older version out there that I got for about $3 from a homeschool sale. I don't see much of a difference. Good for nonwiggly kids. However, there are a few games in the book. With my wiggly one, I just made him do jumping jacks between him sounding out words.
beka87
Saxon Phonic is especially good for someone who has never taught phonics before. Scripted lessons, worksheets, games, readers...We like it here. It's actually written like there are multiple children.
