Edpo! Reported!

Celery is pretty much through the entire alphabet. I mean, he *is* through the entire alphabet, but needs to work on accuracy and speed... he doesn't have the last 3 letters down yet. But, I'm thinking we might get there by the end of the week (which may or may not include the weekend). He's been doing typing 6-7 days a week, for the most part. And, of course, then there are a few more punctuation marks, and all of the numbers. But, the end is in sight!

FWIW, atm we're only aiming for 10 wpm. Obviously, that'll need to increase.

Boeja!

Oh boy, if only we could. We would love to move out of California, but family really complicates things.

Wow, tell me about it.  Family is what keeps me living in a climate I really don't care for.  And now my kids are accustomed to exactly this climate and really don't like the climate I cam from (and would like to return to).   :svengo:

It's so cloudy and cool today. We are supposed to be back at summer heat levels by the weekend. I expect to have a cold by Monday.

I can't like this because of the cold you expect to catch.  And the return of summer heat.  I don't want a return of summer heat.  I wanna keep my slightly cooler, slightly less humid air!

The morning news here has reports of a huge Granddaddy Alligator Snapping Turtle holding up traffic on some busy thoroughfare in Houston.  He was a little cranky when some young whippersnapper humans came along with their Animal Patrol truck and a dog kennel of all things and PICKED HIM UP.  *sigh*  The impatience of youth.

By his size they estimate he is about 70 years old.

I signed DD13 up for ballet today.  I deliberately filled out the paper form and not the online form because I didn't want to give them permission to automatically draw tuition from my checking account.  They said they would take credit cards, but their online registration form requires info for both the bank draft AND a credit card.  No!  The paper form asks for it, too, but I left that part blank and filled out the credit card info part.

Then they were very cooperative.  The staff were all in a meeting when we got there for DD's ballet class (arrived early to turn in paperwork and see if they needed anything else).  DD's dance teacher wasn't in the meeting and she taught dance class on time, but the staff meeting just kept going and going and going, even knowing they had someone with some paperwork (they knew I was there with it).  "Oh, our meeting is almost done," said one gal I stopped as she came back from the restroom.  "Okay, thank you!"  Nope.  Class time finished, and they were STILL happily meeting away.  To be fair they were being quite productive in their brainstorming of a Christmas shindig they are planning for their students.

DD has a very nice teacher.  She happily took our filled-out form and said she'd give it to the appropriate people when the meeting finished.  Yay!  I didn't have to face anyone who might try to insist on having the bank draft info!  I plan on being rather passive/resistant if they try to insist on that.  "But you said you accept credit card payments.  I've chosen to pay by credit card."

My kids have had several of these.  A few have needed antibiotic drops, some needed the numbing drops, but mostly within 24-48h life was completely back to normal again.

Poor Mary! They are no fun.

Chocolate Therapy is nice, but it just isn't BR's Peanut Butter & Chocolate.  I might have to accidentally turn wrong on the way home from Aikido this evening and get some.

ETA:  Oh, how handy!  The pharmacy just called to say my prescriptions are ready for pick-up.  They happen to be in the direction of BR.

Don't worry about speed right now.  Speed will come with continued practice.  Focus on good typing, with good ergonomic posture and usage of all 10 fingers.  Get the mechanics down right, so he won't have to unlearn bad habits later.  Once the mechanics are solid then see about working on speed.

Yeah, that's why right now we're only doing 10wpm. Though his posture is like a jellyfish. Kid lacks core strength. But, at least he's using 10 fingers the correct way (unlike DW and me, who type quite adequately completely the wrong way).

On page 31 of Macaulay's "Pyramid", a worker is portrayed pinching the butt of another worker. We wonder if the pyramid would have been completed more quickly if those ancient Egyptians hadn't been such pranksters! :D

#isaidbutt

I totally missed that. Unfortunately, it'll probably be a looooooong time before we'll revisit the pyramids.

Celery poked Broccoli in the eye with a ruler a couple of years ago. Scratched cornea, very painful, but in the end no big deal (hassle of urgent care, followed by a check-up at the ophthalmologist, where they concluded that he did a better job reading ophthalmologist than most adults, and therefore his eyesight couldn't be too impaired (okay, j/k... they did some actual testing and looking at his eye as well)).

Both of my older children had scratched corneas, both from a fork and being foolish if I remember correctly. It was very painful for a day or two, and we had to do eye drops. No major damage.

We are back on the road again. I didn't buy much at the shopping center. Everything was very expensive, even the clearance. I guess I wasn't in the shopping mood. I used to love to shop but not anymore. I really have to talk myself into it.

I have been pretty fortunate with my children. They aren't allergic to anything but poison ivy. They have a bad reaction though, usually requiring steroids.

We are in Kentucky now. Back to the grind tomorrow. Mom called and said my aunt is in the hospital due to irregular heartbeat and will be kept overnight for observation. Mom isn't feeling any better either due to the pain in her side. So more things to do.

Dawn, I remember going to a shopping center in that area of Tennessee once--but I don't remember the shopping center as much as I remember something else. There was a field, and it was full of thistles that were heading out. It was alive with purple finches and gold finches. They were as thick as butterflies, all feeding on the thistle seed. It was the most amazing bird tornado ever. Constantly shifting yellow, gold, black, purple and red whirlwinds of wings.  :001_smile:

I'm beat! I washed our sheets and comforter this morning, and put chicken in Italian dressing. After work (and I left work an hour later than planned) I took dc to Best Buy to spend their own money, plus bought a cheap CD player to use at church, then to McD for tea, but ended up eating there.
Then we came home, cooked the chicken, ran the roomba, dusted the living room, foyer, and dining area, remade my bed, loaded the dishwasher (after dd unloaded it), and packed school stuff for tomorrow.

:grouphug: to all with allergies

I have been pretty fortunate with my children. They aren't allergic to anything but poison ivy. They have a bad reaction though, usually requiring steroids.

We are in Kentucky now. Back to the grind tomorrow. Mom called and said my aunt is in the hospital due to irregular heartbeat and will be kept overnight for observation. Mom isn't feeling any better either due to the pain in her side. So more things to do.

Liked for the good.   :grouphug:  :grouphug:  for the grind and everyone who is doing poorly.  I hope it all proves to be next to nothing, and they feel better quite soon.
