Can I Ask for Prayers? Update #31

My cousin is in the hospital after being violently attacked and shot several times. He's in the trauma unit on critical watch, they removed a part of his liver and have to do surgery to repair his heart. He was not the intended target of this attack, he was literally caught in the cross fire of someone elses violence.

This cousin and I are only several months apart and though we live in seperate cities, we've have grown closer in the last few years as young adults. If you don't mind would you please pray for him over the next couple of days.

ETA: I posted an update in post #27. Thank you all so much for your prayers and good thoughts!

A Huge thank you to everyone who has said a prayer for my cousin and to those who have kept him in their prayers. Please, keep praying guys, the Drs are really impressed with him--he's still heavily sedated, but its been a few days and he's meeting all of his healing goals. There is no spinal damage that they can tell. When they wake him up, he is responsive, but he isn't allowed to speak. He's been able to move his fingers/toes when asked and blink/twitch his eyes when asked so thats good.

Despite a bad scares when his heart stopped, the first round of surgery went well. My cousin is still in critical condition, but he's now labeled as "stable" and the doctors said if he continues to improve then they give him a very big chance of living and making a full recovery, but its probably a long road to recovery.

Please just continue to pray for him and pray that if he does in fact make a good recovery, that he chooses better company to fill his life with and picks a new, better path for his life.

ETA: So embarrassed I didn't begin this post with a thank you the first time.

Update: Cousin was able to wake up for several minutes today and I spoke to him on the phone! He couldn't speak back due to throat issues from the intubation and such, but it was a big deal that he seemed cognizant of everything I said to him, nodded or mouthed back to my conversation--the Dr. was pleased with that sign. He is doing okay, but since this morning he has some symptoms so he is on watch for development of an infection, but other than that it seems to be going well. Still critical and he might lose his "stable" classification if he develops an infection, but hopefully he wont get an infection and will just continue to heal.
