BrandonMommy
Anyone have suggestions for *good* audiobooks that ds5 and dd7 can listen to together and that my dd7 can listen to on her own?
pitterpatter
I would start by seeing what your library offers. There are so, so many. You could always start with the classics. DD absolutely loves the Oz series. The ones that the library doesn't have audiobooks for, she listens to her Kindle read to her. She's completed the entire series now and has listened to some of the books 10-12 times or more. She liked the first part of the Jungle Books (with Mowgli). The Moffats were a big hit (entire series). The Little House series has audiobooks. It looks like you use WWE. Here's what I would do. When your DD shows an interest in one of the excerpts, see if your library has an audiobook for it. My DD constantly asks me to track down books for those excerpts. She loved How to Eat Fried Worms. She enjoyed Freckle Juice too (not sure whether there was a excerpt for that one). Doctor Doolittle is another one she constantly listens to. There's two of those. Oh, and Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle (several of those). I would let WWE be your guide.
Epicurean
Can you narrow it down at all? Are you looking for children's classics? Books that tie in with history? Just fun entertainment? For that age range, the audiobooks that first spring to mind are: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz A Little Princess Winnie the Pooh Rikki Tikki Tavi Peter Rabbit The Little Prince Peter Pan The Trumpet of the Swan James Harriot's Treasury for Children

BrandonMommy
I have access to a library but no audiobooks (I'm overseas). We use Audible and just started using Librivox. pitterpatter
DD has an second generation basic Kindle Fire. First generation Fires are the only ones that don't offer text-to-speech, I think. Not all books offer text-to-speech, but a great many do. We download mp3 audio books from our library's digital collection, but we also check out CD audio books. Many classics have free Kindle books that DD listens to. I have access to a library but no audiobooks (I'm overseas). We use Audible and just started using Librivox. I Thanks for the suggestion! Squawky Acres
We have an Audible subscription, and play audio books in the car. Peregrine
In addition to the titles already listed, my boys (7 and almost 5) enjoy Nate the Great, The Animal Rescue Team Series, The Princess and the Goblin, The Princess and Curdie, and Jim Weiss's Egyptian Myths. RKWAcademy
We use an old Kindle Touch. Actually, we have two. The new paperwhite and other versions don't have audio capability. You can find a used Touch on Amazon. I don't want to let my kids take a kindle with internet or apps to their rooms without supervision. I want them listening to books not playing games - which I know mine would do!
