Tap
Do you like each piece of chocolate in a mixed box to be a surprise, or do you like to have an idea of what the pieces are. I am sitting here eating a piece of Valentine chocolate and wishing my box had a little picture map of what the flavors of each piece are, because I wouldn't have chose this piece tonight if I would have known. (Chocolate butter cream when I was hoping for a fruit cream instead) I know can figure it out if I want to go online to See's, but I really don't want to have to go through that. I just wish the box had a little diagram or something. It is a premade heart box, so it wasn't custom, so I am surprised that it isn't labeled. Obviously you can tell what some of them are, but this one was just a little round guy that I figured was a cream, but didn't know what flavor until I bit into him....not bad, just not what I was in the mood for. So, how 'bout you? Surprise or no surprise? PS, I know See's has a paper listing of all their chocolates on the wall at the store, but it isn't accessible right now so it doesn't help me out tonight. Jasperstone
I'm not wasting calories on ones that aren't great. So, I need to know before it pops in my mouth. :-D
Grover
I have life threatening food allergies. I want to know!!
Joyofsixreboot
Surprise me BUT I figure if you know me well enough to buy me chocolates you won't get gross(pbj) or weird( goji fruit) ones. For you with no surprises, break them open first or spit it out. I'm not eating ones I don't like. Ack
gardenmom5
we always do custom. when given a mixed box - I have been known to cut them in half to see what they are. (I know of another woman who cut them in half because some kinds she couldn't eat due to allergies.) If I'm going to ingest that many calories and sugar - I'm going to darn well enjoy it! (and if it's a flavor I dislike - that is not possible.) eta: by cutting them in half - someone else can still eat them. if I have to bite into one to see what it was, it would have to be thrown away. DawnM
I am very picky about chocolate and what is inside! I hate most fillings in boxed chocolate. I don't want fruit, nuts, nougat, marshmallow, and a host of other things. But I don't like surprises in general!
JFSinIL
I love See's, but hate that they do not include a cheat sheet. I had to go online to find out that most of my Valentine truffles were not for me at all. I dislike having my chocolate ruined by fruit, cocoanut, etc. See's makes the best, strongest peppermint patties, and I love nibbling away at a square peanut crunch. SKL
I'm fine with a surprise if I know it's going to be a surprise. :) I figure, I'm going to eat all of it anyway, who cares what order I eat it in? I don't have any allergies or any flavors that would really disgust me. If I got a sucky-ish flavor, I'd just eat another one until I had a good taste in my mouth. :)
Night Elf
I don't like those mixed boxes for this very reason. I want to know before I take a bite. When I was a kid, I poked my finger into the bottom. Of course, my tastes have changed since I was a youngin, so maybe I'd like more of the different flavors now. I'd still want to know though. Amira
I want to know. There are too many fillings I don't like.
Lady Florida.
I want to know. Like others have said, there are too many fillings I dislike. I like the boxes that come with a map to which filling is in each spot. Even then though, there are always ones that just don't get eaten. MaeFlowers
I with the other posters. Too many fillings I don't like. When I get these as a gift, I just give them to dh and ds and watch them make the "Ohh, yuck!" faces.
SKL
A box of chocolates is like life - you never know what you're gonna git. Or did I get that backwards? - Forrest Gump Surprises - they build character.
SKL
Even if they come with a map, don't your kids move them all around anyway?
Arcadia
My kids took the paper catalogue home when we when into the See's candies store past weekend. I have the Easter catalog because the catalog is pretty. I don't like caramel but my kids does. I'll avoid the caramel ones and leave them for my kids. Cinder
Can't stand coconut and I always pick that first. :ick: I want to know! Ha ha--me too!
Word Nerd
Both. After the caramel and coconut chocolates (my favorites) are gone, I don't mind being surprised.
Desert Strawberry
I like to know, but I will eat it either way. I like most fillings, but raisins give me migraines and I'm not always crazy about fruit fillings. I'd rather know what I'm about to bite into so that I can save the questionable ones for someone else.
Desert Strawberry
I didn't realize how much I miss See's. We don't have anything remotely like that, where you can have a custom box built, or choose a nut mix or whatever. That's nice. My mom was really picky, so my dad always had a custom box built for her. Otherwise, she would poke the bottom of each one and leave it there, oozing all over the box.
