English curriculum suggestions?

I'm homeschooling a second grade girl and third grade boy. At the moment we're doing

R&S Math (Mathematical Reasoning supplement)

Apples and Pears

Apologia Science

Beautiful Feet (history, geography mostly for fun)

Does anyone have some suggestions for an English curriculum to go with what we're already doing? Do they need English right now? I was thinking about starting our Latin program and I've read that they'll learn lots English grammar through that also.

Any thoughts???

If you are doing Latin, Memoria Press has created an English grammar program that really goes nicely with Latin grammar studies.  It has kids memorize basic English grammar rules along with examples applying those rules and uses a very simple workbook lesson, one per week.  We were doing Rod & Staff English, which I still love and think is an excellent option.  But with serious Latin studies, spending that much time on English grammar in addition can be overkill.

Here is a review I wrote about it and here is a comparison between it and R&S, if you're interested.

Would the Memoria Press grammar program go with any Latin program or is it geared specifically towards theirs?

I am planning on working through Latin for Children A next year, and have R&S, but now I'm thinking it may be too much.

Sorry, OP, for taking your thread off topic.

For 2nd grade, we don't do grammar, but we do copywork and dictation. You could get the Writing With Ease book and take selections from your history readings.

We start grammar in 3rd grade, so I would have my 4th grader doing copywork and dictation as well as something like Jr. Analytical Grammar.

HTH!
