Crimson Wife
The Kennedy Krieger Institute has agreed to do neuropsych testing at their Deafness and Related Evaluations clinic! [insert happy dance emojis here] It's not until June but that will give us time for DD2 to get her hearing aids and adapt to their use. Not looking forward to the cost of the eval but we really need some answers as to what is going on with her. It isn't just the hearing loss as her developmental delay started when her hearing was within the normal range. The autism diagnosis though has always felt not quite right either. What she needs is a good neuropsych who can get some reliable test results out of her. I may end up having a records review by GDC or somebody else who gets the giftedness angle but that would come after the DREAM clinic testing.

PeterPan
That's great! Ds' behavior is so connected to his speech. I wonder what effect the hearing aids will have on your dd's compliance? Will she have had them in a while before the psych eval?
Crimson Wife
More (relatively) good news: the in-network pediatric neurologist just called to tell me that they are going to send DD for a MRI. Apparently, she thought that the ENT doctor (???) was going to be ordering one when he sees DD and that's why our primary care pediatrician hadn't made the neurology referral. But the MRI scheduling request is in the system now and I should be getting a call next week about booking it.

Crimson Wife
The MRI did not find any structural abnormalities or neurological issues to explain either the hearing loss or the symptoms attributed to autism. Glad to have that over and done with. One fewer thing to worry about!
