DawnM
I don't remember all the ads being shown online before the game actually occurs. Is this new or have I lived under a rock?
DawnM
I am going to assume the rest of you don't know either, and it isn't that you are trying to be nice to me and not tell me that I am an idiot who hasn't noticed this yet. RebeccaS
This was the first year I noticed it. That said, I'm not terribly observant and I don't really care about the Superbowl or the commercials. :P
Robin M
This is new. Usually, the advertisers wait until after the game.
lispy
I think there were some online before the game last year, but that is the first year as far as I remember. I've been trying to avoid watching them so they will be "new" during the game. But it seems like every year they get a little bit more mundane--I guess because "normal" commercials have a larger budget during the year, where it used to be everyone poured so much into THE super bowl commercial. (Or, maybe I'm just not as easy to impress as I used to be)
Word Nerd
I don't know why anyone watches the game "for the commercials." Even when you can't see them before the game, you can see them the next day, and that isn't new.
DawnM
I don't know of anyone who actually watches the game for the commercials. I never have. I usually only care about Super Bowl because we go to parties! But this year the HAWKS are playing!!!!!!!!! that is all.
KrissiK
I haven't been thrilled about the commercials the past several years. There was that one year, several years ago when the commercials were just awesome. My favorite one was when that guy was making his gf spaghetti and the cat knocked it on the ground and his gf comes in as he's picking the cat up off the floor with one hand, has a knife in the other and the cat is covered with spaghetti sauce. milovany
The Carl Jr's one is *awful* (just plain awful, totally inappropriate -- boycott for the rest of my life awful) and I'm glad I got wind of it ahead of time so I can turn the tv off as soon as it comes on (hopefully I'll have a premonition right before it comes on and get it off before it even starts). Yick. I don't recall them showing them ahead of time in the past either.

Yick. I don't recall them showing them ahead of time in the past either. I remember the hullabaloo over Paris Hilton washing the car while eating a Carl's Jr. burger. That one aired for a while where I lived and was then banned. I heard it never even aired in other parts of the country. And people that one was bad! This one looks far more risqué. Word Nerd
The Carl's Jr. ad reminded me of a scene from Austin Powers. I think the Paris Hilton one was raunchier, but this "all-natural" one is pretty family-unfriendly.
Lakeside
This may be a silly question, but does anyone know if the commercials will be shown on NBC's website during the streaming of the Super Bowl?

I'm not sure if it will be different this year, but we watched the SuperBowl last year by sending the the online stream to my Apple TV, and they didn't show the commercials then.
