Scrappy11
Now that I'm halfway through the year, I realize I am in need of a better writing program. My son is in 10th grade. He's using BF Medieval and I need to supplement with some type of writing curriculum. Due to the way he is wired, we need something with clear, specific daily lessons, including how long a required essay should be. I have no desire to use IEW. Every time I find a curriculum wth clearly defined lessons, it has literature with it. He is already getting lit with the BF study. I also can't spend very much money on it, but I am sure something exists out there. Any suggestions?
Guest2
We liked home2teach. It is a little weird to sign a high schooler up for the paragraph class. (And almost everyone takes it twice). If you can get past that though, the instructors have daily assignments that need to be submitted. Lots of editing and reediting. He will need to submit a writing sample to be placed. The cost was right at about $80 for six weeks. My daughter has made huge strides with this program. On the con side, the teacher is exacting and can be a bit negative . Mostly this was in the group correspondence as it was full of all caps sentences and way too many explanation points. She would never allow her students to write like that. It can also be time consuming, but no busy work. The classes are registering now and starting end of Feb. . You might consider the week before classes start as their start date as they seems to,be a lot of paperwork due prior to the class. The class is live, but all text. Overall we have been very pleased. My daughter is a strong writer now.
