Magic Lens

Still not satisfied with grammar. We loved FLL/ALL and my ds was so upset when we found out the SWB is not going to continue her grammar. He's been doing Daily Grammar Practice and it gets the job done.

I finished FLL with my middle ds and moved to MCT grammar. He's liking it but it is too easy and review at this point. I should have gotten the voyage level and not town. Anyway, we do not care for the 4 level analysis of "diagramming" MCT uses. My ds is used to and prefers standard diagrams. So does my oldest ds.

I do like how he explains the grammar concepts. I need the next level of grammar for my oldest but before I buy DGP again I wanted to ask about Magic Lens. I looked at the scant samples. Again, I like what I see with grammar explanations. However, I know the 4 level analysis is a no go for my kids. Does Magic Lens also do standard diagramming for each sentence? Before someone suggests that we can just take the sentences and diagram them on our own, I need/want an answer key just to make sure I get it right. I'm pretty good at diagramming but when I'm teaching my kids I want to make sure I'm getting it correct for sure.

DGP does. It basically has the components of MCT and includes diagramming. However, there are no grammar concept explanations. There is simply a list of quick definitions and examples.

I'm thinking possibly getting the Magic Lens book that explains the grammar but doing the sentences in DGP. That is assuming Magic Lens does not include diagramming. If I went this route should I get the teacher book or student book for Magic Lens?

He shows diagrams of some sentences for the sake of example, but he doesn't instruct in diagramming and still uses 4 level analysis.

The teacher book is the student book plus the answers filled in so you could manage with just that, but if you wanted to use the exercises you'd have to cover up the answers or something.
