Laura Corin
I'm considering HRT - mostly to retain bone mass now that I am menopausal (I've looked into the risks and am fine with the profile). I'm wondering if it might improve my mood too - any experience? I'm not noticing increased volatility. It's more that if previously I mostly felt 8/10 on a happiness scale, I'm more like 7 or 6 now. It's not catastrophic: I'm taking up a new hobby, holding down a job, being nice to my family, not finding it difficult to get through my week. I am just a bit less satisfied with my life and slightly more likely to be anxious. Might HRT help? Thanks Laura
trulycrabby
I was a lot grumpier before I went on hrt a few months ago. I use/take compounded bioidentical estradiol cream and provera, which is not bioidentical. Haven't noticed any weight changes, but I sure do sleep better without hot flashes. :zombie:
LizzyBee
I was perimenopausal when diagnosed with leukemia. Not a good combo. I was insane, couldn't stand to be in the room with myself some days. Then I started having neurological symptoms and could barely get out of bed. I was tested for a ton of stuff, and my doctors started suggesting hormones. I didn't believe them until I went 90 days without a period…. and on the day it started, I felt the fog beginning to lift. Within a couple weeks, I felt normal. My doctor gave me progesterone to start another period because I didn't want to risk going 90 days or more again, and I started the pill on that cycle. (My FSH was only 37, and she prescribes an estrogen based pill instead of HRT if it's below 50.) That was two years ago and I am still normal. My doctor normally only prescribes the pill or HRT for 2 years, but she's letting me go for another year because of my other health issues. So we'll see what happens in a year. All that to say, yes, it helped my mood immensely. :thumbup1:
