IsabelC
We celebrated today (Summer Solstice here) because Ms. 9 was away from home yesterday. Kidlets were up at 3 (ouch) ready to watch the dawn breaking. We had fire lanterns instead of a bonfire, which was great fun.

IsabelC
We watched 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' coz, you know... Snap, so did we! The version we got was a bit sexier than I really wanted for the 6yo but it was lots of fun, especially Kevin Kline as Bottom.
Rosie_0801
Oh no. Not Kevin Kline, the tradesman, prancing around town in a white suit! :svengo: We watch the BBC Classics version, with Helen Mirren playing Titania. Dd loves it. It's not too sexy either. One of these years I'll find the Judi Dench version, though it seems kind of scary to me.
IsabelC
Goodness, haven't seen that one for years, but I am sure Helen Mirren was better than Michelle Pfeifer. Must get it for next year...
Rosie_0801
Oh good grief! Yes! Michelle Pfeifer had that huge Glinda the Witch of the North dress, didn't she! Well, she must have been a fairy queen with proper magic to get through the woods with that on and not snag it on stray blackberries. But anyway, that's off topic... Pegs
Joyous solstice! We celebrated today also. We have done a little window art, eaten frozen berries, put temporary UV tattoos on the kids, and exchanged gifts.

Luckymama
A Happy Winter Solstice to everyone! We toasted the lengthening days... I annoy my family every year after Winter Solstice by announcing that it's almost my birthday. On Summer Solstice. :D
