Desert Strawberry
I'm due with #5 in the next 2-3 weeks (will be induced for complications first week of January, if we make it that far). I'm feeling fine physically, but mentally scattered and unfocused, and I'm cranky. I have appointments every week that suck up most of our day. Kids are fine. They are happy to do school work. I think they would benefit from the mental stimulation. Right now, we are doing little bits of school work here and there. The oldest can do almost all of his without me. The middle, a few things. Gem needs me. Should we settle in get it done, or take an early vacation? I want to do nothing, but There has been a lot of that, and will definitely be more after baby comes. Maybe it would be better for everyone if we were gainfully occupied. Tell me what to do.
LLMom
What about just covering the basics, math and reading for the rest of this week and then call it quits. Do some fun things for Christmas if you are up for it (special books, games, movies, crafts, baking) Your kids are young. The oldest can start back on independent work soon after the baby is born. Take care of yourself.
73349
Are your kids happy to do nothing, or will they get on each other's nerves?
Desert Strawberry
We are doing just basics all year. It's been a tough time for me-not unexpectedly. The choices are minimal or nothing. I just feel like maybe a nice, clean break would be refreshing. They seem ok on their own. I'm definitely not up for entertaining them or taking them places. No crafts or baking or anything fun like that. They are good about playing and making their own fun. They don't fight much. Really, they could go either way. Kerileanne99
Can you set a goal? If you are worried about getting in basics, having that mental boundary of say, Friday to keep plugging away might be useful. And it is a countdown...for them and for you to get through the next couple of weeks:) Then next week take what energy you have (ha!) and reroute it from the basics to some special holiday fun projects. Even if it is a kit-in-a-bag thing or if you get really motivated, a baking lesson where you direct from the sidelines.

I think you should do nothing...which of course doesn't mean you'll actually get to do *nothing,* what with all those kidlets living in your house. :-) Your dc are little. It will be fine for you to put away your Official School Stuff until after Christmas...*way* after Christmas. I'm thinking at least the middle or end of January. Coco_Clark
I'd take the time off. Maybe I am an outlier but 10-12 days after I pop a baby I feel clearheaded and rearing to go again, but that month before? I am toast. Schooling with a newborn is easy, especially if you baby wear, you will "catch up".
Desert Strawberry
We did school. They wanted to and enjoyed it, though they didn't want to finish-which is fine. They got the important stuff in and we'll switch it up tomorrow. Tonight is Channukah. We only celebrate the first night. We will have a story, play dreidels and the big kids will make latkes. It will be a fun night. I guess they decided for me :)
Jennifer132
I'm in the same boat. Im thinking I'll have our fifth right after Christmas. I'm trying to stay with doing school until then, just because I know it won't get done once the baby shows up! So I'd keep it going. :)
school17777
I'd try to keep going as long as you can, until the baby comes. Once the baby is here, you will need time off, so the more you get done now, the less stressed you will feel after the baby comes. I think you will be glad for/appreciate the work you pushed through now to get done.
lea_lpz
I took 2 weeks off before baby was due and 4 after that. I usually take 6 weeks off from Thanksgiving until after around 2nd week of January. So yep I would. If your losers can do complete independent work I would let them as long as it's not disrupting you and other than that enjoy the rest while you can :)
PeterPan
I'd keep going till Friday. :)
ocelotmom
Yes, take a break. Everything else aside, you're days from standard public school winter vacation.
