Ottakee
If you are in the Cincinnati OH area, do your kids need warm weather gear like heavy winter coats? Snow pants? Winter boots? I have foster boys that just came tonight but will likely be moving to that area in a few weeks. Wondering if they need the cold weather gear or not? We are in West Michigan so while they are here they need it as we have snow on the ground but if they won't need it there, I can try to borrow some for a few weeks. Gisel_le
Yes they do. I am an hour north of Cincinnati. It gets very cold and it snows.
Ottakee
Ok so it is worth spending their clothing money on snow pants and heavy coats and boots to take with them? Just want to be wise with their limited funds but if we don't get them now they won't have them in stores in a few weeks.
Slache
Yes. I lived there for four years.
obsidian
I live quite close to Cinci. We had 3" of snow a week or two ago...temps in the single digits. Last winter, we had snow on the ground almost the entire winter and temperatures below zero (before windchill). So yes, I'd say they need cold weather gear. beaners
We only need snow pants a few times a year, it seems to me. But maybe that's because I'm used to upstate NY winters? Coats, definitely. And boots too, although my kids only wear them when we actually have snow.
Sherry in OH
Yes, they will need winter gear. Snow pants are not as necessary as the other items but are still nice to have. As for boots, Sorel’s would be overkill. Boots rated to -5 degrees should be adequate. You do want the foot portion to be waterproof rather than water resistant. kbutton
Yes! Go for it. I've been wearing long johns already this year.
Ottakee
Sorry. WE are not moving, THEY are. Once their case is sorted out through the courts it is likely they will be moving to that area to be with a relative.
mommymilkies
Yes, you really do. Snow pants maybe not if they're not going out to play in the snow, but yes for boots, hats, gloves, and heavy coats.
