Night Elf
I just remembered. Last year someone on this board helped me pick a gift for my dd's boyfriend. It's a Reaction Ball and is for reflexes and hand-eye coordination. He loved it. It was a great inexpensive gift.

klmama
Thanks for sharing this idea! Does anyone have any other good suggestions for athlete gifts?
MEmama
What kind of athlete, what age and what's the budget? Everything from a new(ish) road bike to triathlon goggles to ski wax are hits here. Do you have something specific in mind?
Kareni
The Reaction Ball does look like fun! Thanks for the suggestion. Regards, Kareni
wendy not in HI
Here are some things I've been thinking about for my husband who is in to running and biking and my teenage dd who is a runner - they both also play tennis: I'm thinking about getting a couple of different lights that can be carried in hand or attached to his bike. I'm also thinking about those id bracelets that someone linked in an earlier christmas thread, maybe the one for young men? My dh was in a biking accident this fall, luckily he was riding with a friend who was able to call for help, but I can see that an id bracelet would be a good idea. Dh loves his go-pro camera (he takes it hunting and on bike rides) and I am thinking of getting a couple of things to go with it. I am also thinking about getting him a foam roller for working out any sore muscles after workouts. Dd would like a new ironman watch from Timex. I think she would also like a fitbit! I'm wondering if the older models will go on sale now that there are newer kinds. I know Timex has a line of step counters, but she's not interested. Earphones are always good. And nice waterbottles. I saw a bouncing frisbee that looked like good fun... I'm still looking for the right gift for both of these guys, so if you think of anything, let me know! Chelle in MO
Dh got me a SPIbelt for my birthday this past summer, and I love it. I use it almost daily when walking/running since most of my running pants don't have a pocket big enough for my phone.
