1GirlTwinBoys
We're pretty sure my DH has this because of all the problems gluten causes him (mainly digestive and scalp issues). He's been gluten free for 3 weeks today and he feels amazing as far as those two issues go. However, he has a lot of leg and lower back pain. Before going GF he would take Motrin EVERY day for a very long time. He hasn't been taking anything the last 3 weeks but finally had to take an Extra Strength Tylenol last night. Do you think the leg and back discomfort is due to the effects of gluten?? Is this common? Should he expect to see this get better as well over time? The discomfort is pretty bad. He used to ride dirt bikes and race a lot when he was younger, so he's wondering if it's just from all the accidents he used to have doing that. LaxMom
Yes. Joint pain is one of the main indicators that I've been glutened. The joint pain sets in after the inexplicable anxiety and weepiness (which I still almost always only recognize after other things pop up) and before the DH flares on my scalp. klmama
It could be a combination of things - inflammation from gluten, tight fascia, arthritis from earlier injuries. Has he ever seen a PT?
1GirlTwinBoys
No, he hasn't seen a PT. That may be something he should look into though.
Princess Ariel
Gluten and its effects can take a long time to completely leave one's system. Sometimes continued issues indicate other food sensitivities. I have heard a lot about back pain being related to dairy sensitivity. It might be worth a try to see if leaving it out makes any kind of difference. It is great though that your dh has had so much success in such a short time! Good luck!
