Linking to these will soon result in a broken link, but they are here for you all to download for now. These are just rough drafts. I have not read all these books cover to cover. These pdf's are not edited for mechanics or ready for Alpha distribution. But, there is a lot of information here, organized into yearly plans, that are far more complete and logical than some things I see for sale. This is what it is. Only so much can be accomplished with nothing but free downloads. I did my best to compile the best of what is AVAILABLE into something COMPLETE that is capable of being COMPLETED by NORMAL children. Gifted children will need to move through the levels more quickly and can entirely skip some levels of the math. This is NOT an internationally competitive curriculum. It will NOT prepare students for direct entry into a selective 4 year college. This curriculum was designed to fully prepare students for entry into a community college, without needing to take remedial classes, and to prepare them to engage in interesting class room conversation, to be able to write interesting papers, and to fully participate in community college culture. My belief is that community college culture is a DIFFERENT culture, not an inferior culture. This is not merely a dumbed down curriculum. You can do anything you want with this information other than to make it illegal for others to distribute it freely. PLEASE be careful with the science! Do NOT taste mercury! Do not taste, smell, or heat ANYTHING unless you are SURE it's safe to do so. If you are only using the lower level social sciences and history, please read ahead in the NCERT books from India and incorporate some of the ideas and information about human rights into your lower level lessons. I will continue working on this to try and make it better and plan on compiling a literature curriculum. If someone else more qualified than myself grabs ahold of what I've started and is inspired to do something better, I'll stop working on this and just link to their work. In the meantime, I'll stand in the gap and offer my best, as shabby as it is. When my little sister was born, when I was 4, I overfed her, and didn't support her head, but when responsible adults were absent, I did my best for her. I've spent my life jumping in and doing a bit of a crappy job, when there was no one else who could do better willing to do the job. I offer this in the same spirit, very aware of my lack of qualifications and polish. If someone doesn't like this and is WILLING to do better, PLEASE offer the homeschool community something better. I do think it's better than some things that people pay for, as a WHOLE; I really do. It is making me feel better to know this is out there, as a possibility for people that might otherwise cobble together something inferior to it, or God forbid spend money on something inferior. For a host of reasons, people ARE going to use vintage books. We might as well locate the cream of the crop and organize them into a workable whole. At the very least, it could save a person a lot of time, if they look at this, and think, "If that is the best that can be done with vintage, I'm either sending my kid to PS or I'm robbing a bank." They can move right on to spending their time researching assault weapons and masks, and skip right over comparing reading series. :lol: But joking aside, I like a lot of this stuff more than things I have paid for. There is some common sense and practical methods embedded in these books that just blows me away. I have been learning so much general information, and so much about teaching, by reading them. Some of these authors are just so wise and efficient. In general, I think educational theory has gone backward instead of forward. Yes, we know a bit more about the effects of mercury poisoning and plate tectonics, but how did we get SO stupid in other ways? I mean, it's all right here. For free. It's accessible to everyone. Did I miss anything? I don't think the English is awful. It's integrated with the other subjects, it's balanced, and I don't think the students will hate it or be overwhelmed. I'm sure it can be improved by myself over time, and by others with more experience in literature, but I don't think it's awful. I set up a table, as I think it will make it easier for people to tweak, substitute, and shift the lists, while maintaining some balance. Some of these books do include racism. :crying: I don't know how it would have been possible to have created an integrated and balanced curriculum without including books that included racism. I hope the table will make it easier for people to substitute newer books for some of the selections. I figure at least with a clearly defined curriculum, people can work together to pre-read these books and alert moms ahead of time, so they can edit or substitute. I have included watching/attending a PERFORMANCE of Peter Pan in the music curriculum, but I really should have listed it in the literature curriculum, too. Sorry! I'll fix it in the next update. It's 34 pages long. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9Fvf4FXKZtoZmdHdlZ5UWU0SWc/view?usp=sharing For the literature I added Peter Pan, and realized that the longer and leftover books that I hadn't added to the schedule, but are frequently on the shortest "must read" lists, all fit perfectly as honors books. You all know how I have obsessed over short lists for years, now. :lol: I very pleased with the literature. I added flash fiction writing to years 10 and Plus, as a little break from all the research paper writing. I feel so relieved to have a complete rough draft done. It's not awful. When I started this experiment, I had no idea what was possible to compile from all free resources. I just wanted to see. The end product is better than I expected and all that I hoped for. It's not awful. It's just not. The world just seems a little safer and fair to me, now, that I know that ANY mom can download this curriculum onto her laptop, and have something decent to school her babies with. And hopefully, this will inspire others to create something similar, with different goals than American community college prep.
