MP3 player "Library of Classics" - anyone have one?

Does anyone have one of these? I'm christmas idea shopping and came across this. I started walking recently and like to listen to audio books while I walk.  The problem is, audio books from the library are on CD, and I don't care what the discman/player says, or how many seconds anti jiggle memory it should have, they just often don't do well while you are moving.  (I am sure it does not help that it seems so many library cds seem to have been polished on a cheese grater at some point!)

I had an ipod.  I put my cd's on in one big swoop years ago, and really, anytime I try to add to it, I don't remember how, and even with help, audio books don't seem to go on well (in the car you realize the chapters alphabatized themselves or something).  Somewhere along the way the boy adopted my ipod for the music anyway.

With all that in mind, I'm thinking something like may be the way to go.  Does anyone have one? Like it? Hate it? Is it worth $100? Is it all the same reader or different readers? I'd hate to get it and hate the readers voice!  I've had audio books before that I couldn't listen to because I can't stand their voice.  Jim Weiss is one we can't stand. Like he's talking through his nose!

Thoughts?

Have you looked over librivox? They have many classics, completely free of charge. You could put the files on a cheap mp3 player, if the ipod is beyond you. Though, just a heads up, my brother showed me a folder called "automatically add to itunes" - I drag and drop audio files in, and the folder does exactly as it promises! I wonder if you have something similar?

Everytime I have tried to put audio books from the library on my ipod it is a disaster. I can not search it for the next correct chapter because I am driving. This last move was a six day drive so I just checked out audiobooks then mailed them back to my friend to return. That was why I was hoping this thing would work.

Sorry, I don't know anything about the library of classics.

I just wanted to encourage you to try the cds from the library again.  I use them all the time to put books on our ipods.

To have them in order and play correctly, you need to put the books into a playlist, then they just keep playing in the correct order.

I just bought my ds a refurbished 16GB ipod Nano for $100 from apple, it will hold dozens of books, and music.

Does your library system have e-audio books?  My library has Overdrive and One Click Digital and I load books from those sites onto our ipods too.

Guest Library of Classics

Hi,

My name is Phil Nadel and I am the President of the Library of Classics.  I saw your post and wanted to respond.  We designed the Library of Classics to be easy to use.  The list of titles is visible with one click and once you select the title, just press 'Play' and enjoy.  We also designed the Library of Classics to be used on the go, while exercising, running errands, doing chores around the house, or in the car (we include a car adapter).  The player does not skip no matter how much you jiggle it.

All of the books included in the collection are original and unabridged versions.  They have also been digitally optimized by our acoustic engineers for the best possible audio clarity.  These 100 audio books, plus the classical music and the MP3 player, have a total retail value of more than $1,000.  Just visit iTunes or Amazon to get a sense of what each audio book would cost.

The Library of Classics is covered by our 100% Money Back Lifetime Guarantee.  If you are ever dissatisfied for any reason, we will give you a complete refund (including the cost of shipping it to you).

I encourage you to try the Library of Classics for yourself and to give it as a gift.  If you or your gift recipients are ever not 100% thrilled, we will give you a full refund.  You can order on our website at www.EnjoyTheClassics.com or by phone at 1-800-733-1590 (available 24/7).

Thanks,

Phil
