Our newest is Blokus, but we also like Dutch Blitz, Memory, and Apples to Apples. My husband & kids really like the classics: Scrabble, Risk, and Monopoly. How about building models or a birdfeeder? Have you seen the stain-glass-look coloring books or the advanced paint by number kits and dot-to-dot books? With the holidays approaching, maybe you could research a baking or decorating project to work on. We always make gingerbread houses and decorate them together. We do a lot of jigsaw puzzles in the winter months when we can't get outside as much. It's worth it to us to buy quality puzzles, like Springbok. It makes it a lot more fun and satisfying. DD13 and DH go to movies that appeal to them, because I know DS5 and DS2 wouldn't care for them; we'll take everyone to the children's museum, knowing that that is more for the younger boys than anything; the boys can't participate in board games like Clue, so we play those *just* with DD13; but other times we'll all play a game that is on DS5's level. Sometimes getting together to watch others play is more fun than playing the game LOL) video gamesmovie night - about every 2 months we do the theater. In between, we will do a ppv at home.shows on netflix that we all watch together regularlyds 16 & I build lego together dd & i have a tv night where we watch our own show (first was ER, then Grey's, now The Good Wife. My girls are not loving geocaching and many caches are just off wheelchair friendly paths at the parks (your dh could see them locate the cache) and some are right on the trails or sidewalks in town, etc. If you have a hand held GPS then it is a free activity..........provided you aren't in cold/snowy weather. helena Posted November 1, 2014 Share Posted November 1, 2014 Disneyland. I have sun sensitivity so it's hard to find things to do that are outdoors, in the shade, or at night. I'm so glad for the Disney passes, they're worth every penny. Board games. Fun, goofy ones. Quelf is the new favorite. We go listen to a lot of music. We saw a band a few weeks ago and there was a guy in the mosh pit in a wheel chair. He was with his friends having a blast and going nuts. :) We go to a bird sanctuary which has very accessible paths but is still plenty nature-y. We try lots of new restaurants and hit our favorites as well. Cuddle up with a good movie and do some baking. On holidays we clear the classroom and bring out the disco lights. We eat together, go to sporting events, concerts, hike, watch movies (mostly at home) visit friends and relatives, travel, attend festivals. Sometimes we shop together. Sometimes they'll ask me and DH about when we were younger. Of course we have stories to tell. I can't even say what we talk about really. Just all kinds of things. But we've always done that, even when the kids were younger. I love listening to their thoughts and being a sounding board for working things out. You could then make cooking the produce a family thing, too. Do you live near a city? Our city has "virtual" geochaches - lots of them - they involve solving a small puzzle, rather than finding a cache and since they are in a city they are almost always wheelchair accessible. We use to do way more, but the kids have gotten so busy lately that we can't get in to doing stuff. My husband also gets in to ruts where he just wants to do stuff without the kids. Plays, concerts....we go to Alma College because students are free. Tickets to anything costs just $10.00 each for dh and I. Five people for $20.00 is cheaper than a movie. Movie night at home...occasionally at a theater. Rousing, crazy games of the board game Equate. Hot dog roast in the back yard, bonfire, etc. Travel. We love to travel together, museums, nature hikes, and science centers are favorites. Service projects where we can all work together such as the food pantry. Taking a leisurely drive and just talking. Kayaking, canoeing, and swimming are much loved. Fishing. The guys fish. This does not include me. I will stay back at camp or hang out by the water with a book. I do not fish. Have no desire to...was forced to fish as a child and developed ZERO affinity for it after numerous snapping turtle and leeches grabbed my hook.
