hornblower
In a thread a few days ago someone said "watch, pray, and bite your tongue"I don't pray but this resonated & I thought hard about it for hours. There have been too many issues here around my tendency to just fix stuff. "Oh, you have this problem? OK. I see 5 possible solutions off the top of my head. I'll just write them down, identify the most feasible option, write out the steps required, and plot out a possible timeline. HERE! Your problem is solved if you just do these things! Off you go!" So yesterday, I deliberately didn't do that. Thing is, I had to literally bite my tongue. Then, when that started hurting too much, my bottom lip. Then my top lip. Whoa, that was hard.I think it was also not easy on the other person, because realistically, given the pattern of our behavior, they were fully expecting me to launch in with solutions...which they could then poke holes in, or dismiss with 'easy for you to say' etc. which would then lead us nicely into a full out :boxing_smiley: It was a very interesting experience. I think I learned something but I'm going to have to sit & think about this more. oh & hey, if you do it long enough, your lips swell a bit. It's like cheap lip collagen fillers.
