ajfries
I got a really part time job at a bank so I decided to go buy some slacks. I have lots of skirts that would work but the weather is getting colder & I like slacks. ALL the slacks I tried on fit like yoga pants (or gosh--leggings). I have nothing against yoga pants, but I don't want yoga pants. I want slacks. I'm assuming this issue is due to my...ample booty. I'm a Puerto Rican pear shape. My butt has always been my best asset (har har) and I'm not ashamed of it, but I don't want it on display necessarily either. Sure, it could be a little firmer, but whatever. I tried curvy fit, modern fit, trousers, straight leg, boot leg...all of them. And if the fit was ok in the back, there were crazy wrinkles in the front. I tried on every fit that exists in JCPenney. Apparently I need to widen my search parameters. I felt like I was walking around half naked in those pants! I'm going to be in a professional environment, not a gym. My sister kept saying, "That's how they're going to fit. They look good. You've got a JLO butt." And I get that, but it was just...SO MUCH BOOTY. And the fabric was SO thin. There's no way to avoid panty lines in them. And I came home to DH to explain my woes and he said "I thought you might have some problems. I don't know why you let it bother you. It's all in your head, you just need rock it." Are there slacks that exist that just graze the butt rather than cup it? Do I just need to get used to it & rock them? bolt.
I don't know, but let me know if you find any! Maybe try some stores that target 55+ women... The kind that stock slacks in mint green and pink? (They might have missed the 'flaunt your booty' memo.) Or higher-end department stores? Alternatively, buy nice warm/thick leggings, and carry your skirts into winter.
vonfirmath
I just found some excellent slacks that fit me at Lane Bryant. (And are Petite. I'm short) One is the "Houston" style. I forget the name of the other.
Jen500
Definitely try other stores! These might have more conservative cuts- Talbots J Jill
elegantlion
Have you looked at the Vera Wang line at Kohls? I'm not sure if she has slacks, but I have an ample booty and her pants seem to fit better than many I've tried. Online, It seems like a lot of her line is skinny and legging this year, but you might try the store.
Ellie
I feel your pain. I refuse to buy pants that don't fit at my actual waist. I have to find them on-line, often through companies that sell clothes my grandmother would wear. o_0
wonderchica
Check out New York and Company. Lots of fits and work wear. Sign up for the email and they send coupons constantly, I usually pay about 1/2 price for things with a coupon.
ajfries
So what you're all saying is that I'm going to have to fork out a little more cash. I totally had unrealistic expectations. I totally saw the Worthington Curvy Fit Trousers and thought "BINGO!" Because, you know, they said "curvy" in the title and my "Curvy Girl" Levis are perfect. (I have a 10" difference in my waist & hips, too Fairy Tale Mama.)
goldberry
No advice, but can you send some of that this way? (asks the woman whose stretchy jeans won't stay up because there is nothing to hold them there... )
happi duck
I wish I could relate to 'I look too awesome in these pants'. *wistful sigh* :)
ajfries
This may be a dumb question, but did you try more sizes? Yep, I agree with others that you'll have to try more stores. Some of my slacks are tighter than I'd like so I get it. I used to have an office job so I have various pairs of slacks but they don't all fit anymore and the ones that do fit aren't perfect. If it isn't one thing, it's another. Either too snug or too thin or too long. Seems like nothing is perfect off the rack. For length I either get them hemmed or try to compensate with heels. For the tighter fit, a longer shirt is more forgiving for modesty's sake (or to hide panty lines). But I don't typically wear shirts that are long enough to cover where a panty line would be so yes, it's quite annoying when pants are like that. I tried from size 4 (LOL--didn't fit over my thighs), size 6, and size 8. I even tried a 9/10 in juniors, which actually fit ok but were waaaay low rise. My sister suggested wearing long shirts, but I only buy tops that can be worn with skirts & pants and I don't really want to HIDE my bum...I just want it to simmer down a bit. LOL.
