mom2bee
Has anyone used Amazon or something similar to order groceries--not just one or two specialty items but to order a bunch of stuff and have it delivered. Is anyone using the subscription service so that groceries are delivered regularly? What is your overall opinion of the service? How do you make it cost effective? How does it work out in your budget, etc?
Tanaqui
I've been using their subscription service for things like toilet paper and dish soap, things that I can buy in bulk from Amazon cheaper than I'd pay at the store. If you buy 5 things to be delivered at once through their subscription service, you get an extra discount. So long as you're careful to price check before you buy, you won't overspend. And you can cheat - if you don't want to buy something on a subscription you can sign up for the subscription for this month, and then cancel it for next month. The one problem I have is that sometimes things run out of stock, and then I don't get it. Which is a bummer. I've gotten used to having two laundry soap options (in case one is out of stock) and such. If I have enough soap or whatever when the next delivery rolls around, I just cancel the extra subscription. It's really easy to work with unlike, say, Petco's subscription service which actually gives me hives. (But which I stick with because I get cat food and flea meds dirt cheap that way). Tangerine
I use subscribe and save for some pantry items as well as paper products and toiletries. The 5 item discount is going down from 20% to 15%, so I have to reevaluate everything I buy and make sure it is still a good deal for me. bettyandbob
In the past I had a lot of gluten free items on subscribe and save. At the time my best resource for these items was Whole Foods. I now have found a very cheap local resource. I think subscribe and save can be very economical, especially if you have multiple items in one delivery. You just need to continuously check other options.

I use subscribe and save for paper products, laundry detergent, and the like and have enjoyed my 20% off. Had bet heard it was changing! Bummer. Even if it's not a huge discount (or even no discount) I do enjoy having these items delivered to my door but had been thinking about branching out a bit and adding to my list. (Current items: toilet paper, paper towels, dishwasher detergent, laundry detergent, and trash bags)
Tangerine
I do agree with PP that there are stock issues. I have had to several times change paper towels or skip the applesauce, etc.
Sun
Amazon Fresh is different than the subscription items, but I'm not sure which you're referring to. I've never used Amazon Fresh myself, but I know many, many people who do and love it. I've been very tempted to try it out because of the ease of just having crates of groceries show up on your doorstep. The folks I know who use it have commented that the produce and meats are good quality, and I know they have some sort of insulating system to keep cold items cold. I've heard that they have many local, specialty items available. If you try it, come back and let us know!
