Guest
Thanks if you have any guesses. She's our puppy's mama. The puppy's dad was a boxer. Its papers say boxer and the siblings were clearly boxer. Our puppy seems to be taking after mom, though. ETA: I added pics of our dog further down (post #7) if you want to guess him. Stacia
Maybe a mix of Carolina Dog w/ something else?
hornblower
I call those mosaics. I know someone who rescues dogs from a high kill shelter in Arkansas & she freq has dogs that look like that. Her rescue is called Mosaic :) For ex check out Molson & (other than ears) Felix on this page. http://www.mosaicrescue.ca/happyendings.htm (ears are highly variable - prick eared dog breeds sometimes throw a pup whose ears won't stand up to the breed 'standard' & some people who are intent on a certain 'look' go through all sorts of nonsense of taping ears...) Jean in Newcastle
My guess was Basenji . http://dogtime.com/dog-breeds/basenji
Kebo
Basenji mix is a good guess (very smooth coat and partially curled tail), though Basenji's aren't very common. Unlikely to be a purebred anything, but she's cute. There might be 6 or 8 or who knows how many breeds in there. How is it there are papers on the litter? Guest
Maybe official "papers" isn't the right word - it's his initial vet check where the vet labeled him a boxer mix. So I have a paper from a vet that says boxer mix. ;) Our pup is a sweetie and I don't really care what he is, but everyone who sees him asks what he is and we have no idea, and he's looking less and less boxer. I've had a couple of people say he looks like a rhodesian ridgeback, but he doesn't have the stripe. The mom does look like she may have some basenji in her, but did I read that they don't bark? He definitely can bark with the best of them, lol. I'll try and post a pic of him when he's awake.
Guest
Here's pics of our dog. He is about 6 mos. old. You can guess what he is, too, since that's what I really want to know:

Jean in Newcastle
I see the boxer too. :001_wub: He's a Cutie-pie. That's what he is!
Kebo
Adorable! The dog in my avatar is a mix from the pound, so I have to make something up when people ask. I just say it's my best guess. The pound guessed something obviously not correct -- and DNA testing said her most likely breeds are rottweiler and English springer spaniel. HA! Ridgeback would be a possibility. The mixes wouldn't have to have the ridge. And basenji mixes wouldn't necessarily have the distinctive basenji yodel. Staffordshire bull terrier mix is another possibility, and there are a lot of them out there... http://www.idogpictures.com/staffordshire-bull-terrier-pictures-23.html. There would have to be something finer boned in the mix as well.

Saddlemomma
My guess was Basenji . http://dogtime.com/dog-breeds/basenji :iagree: That was the first thing that popped into my head too.
Pawz4me
There might be 6 or 8 or who knows how many breeds in there. I agree. Whatever breeds are in the mix, he's 100% cute! I think you should do like all the "designer breeds" do and make up a breed name. So if you think there's Boxer in the mix, and others are seeing Basenji you could call him a . . . Boxenji. :D
trulycrabby
My guess: Black mouthed cur and Boxer mix. He is so cute!!! :001_wub:
Impish
He's a cutie! No guesses on the mix though.
mmasc
He's super cute! I can definitely see boxer in him. My guess on his mom is red heeler. We just adopted a pup and she's a mix of boxer and red heeler/cattle dog, but is definitely looking more heeler. Much like your first photo, she has a white tip tail, long snout, and giant ears. :)
Kebo
He's a cutie. I've been searching petfinder.com alot lately, and noticed they called dogs similar to him as a black-mouth cur. Sure fits the pictures on google. I've never seen one, looks like they are primarily Southeastern U.S.
