mamamindy
My girls are 15mos apart. We've done a little of both. I still can't say I'm 100% satisfied doing either (combining or separating), so maybe someone can push me in one direction or the other with their experiences long term. My oldest is quite advanced in LA (IMO, but she's my oldest, so I don't really have anyone to compare to) and DD2 is bright, but still a wiggly, silly 7yo. :) We have FLL2 and ELTL2. I like them both. I'm not sure what we'll use for Level 3. Combining has helped save time....sometimes I feel like they might like to do SOMETHING separate though. And often DD1 has to wait while DD2 is being silly, being redirected, etc.
desertflower
If you want to do something separate you can try doing math or logic books separately. You can also teach 2 different foreign languages. If your oldest is waiting around she can do something else. Read a book? Do a book from the critical thinking company? Build with legos? Personally, I would try to keep as many subjects together as I can just to save time for other things.
texasmama
Given your situation and details, I would separate them. My two boys are combined in everything but grammar and writing. They are both in Algebra but use two different programs.
8filltheheart
I would keep them separate until they have both mastered grammar basics. When you want to start doing higher level analysis or more complex topics, combine. My kids have enjoyed our combined grammar studies. :)

I meant like little "waits" while I redirect and correct her sister. It's not a BIG deal, I know. But she's kinda waiting for everything all the time being the oldest and having so many needy little siblings. I do like keeping most things together. It seems we'll go through phases when it works, and phases when it's not so great.
