My DS (age 7, currently in grade 4.65 w/EPGY) has been using it for two years independently during the school day when the class is doing the normal grade level math (he's in 2nd grade).  He Loves it.  He loves the fact that he can move as quickly as he can grasp the material.  As a parent I love the fact that I can monitor what he is doing and when he has issues (recent upgrade - parents have their own logins).  Additionally the software is a smart software - it recognizes when the student is having difficulties.  It poses the questions in a different manner, etc.  After it has determined that there is no retention of the information it re-lectures.  Now with the recent upgrade (which has NOT been problem free - but seems to be on the mend) - students can find and replay the lectures more easily than before.

Students must pass the grade level final with 85% or better to advance  My DS refused to learn his multiplication tables for the 3rd grade curriculum.  The software knew it and he had to re-lecture, re-demonstrate and then retest.  He finally figured out he would not get out of it until he learned is tables.  He passed the 2nd 3rd grade final with flying colors.

I was not confident that the information would relay to a standardized test.  Last year DS took the SAT10 for 1st grade - earned 100% correct for the mathematics portion for 1st grade (he was already onto 3rd grade math at the time) - so to me that validated the effectiveness.

My DS has recently started using the language arts module (comes with the K-7 subscription) and the software quickly pinpointed those language arts areas he needs additional support for his grade level - better than his current classroom enviornment.  He is well on his way with lecture and problem solving.

Cost is high unless the child is a MENSA member.  The cost for MENSA members is extremely low ($100 or something for 9 months).

Without EPGY my son would have gone bug nuts in his 1st and 2nd grade classes.

Anyone used it with an older kid. Ds is 10 (technically fifth grade) and working between 8th and 10th grade level across the board. We are basically skipping most of middle school exploratory time. I know of many who have used it with their younger kids, but does the success translate to older kids and more depth for high school subjects?

We are more middle school, as well.

We are actually pretty happy with our math. We're beyond Beast's current offerings (although there are things to glean, the cost is too high for said gleaning) we've done about 1/2 of Alcumus for Pre A.

We are on eastern time and the PreA class is too late for my youngish DD. I'm really looking for a valid option if I need to step out of dd's schooling for awhile, so as to not strangle her. I think she could do three months at the 6th- 7th grade level, but the samples, reviews, trails are quite scarce.

Basically I need a consequence for not cooperating with me that isn't as permanent as enrolling her in school (not truly an option), and is something she might actually benefit from.

I am asking because we meet their guidelines for financial assistance (which is apparently not used much so you might want to look into it).  Currently my mother is my son's tutor.  She is a literacy and writing specialist, so it is very budget friendly :).  This year he is bulking up his independence with writing essays from start to finish, and really strengthening his ability to communicate more abstract thought/use citations/create tone and flow...that sort of stuff.  By next year, we are going to need something else.

We love EPGY! Our 7yo does their independent study math program and is currently doing 4th grade level work. She's been using the program for about a year now.

Her school isn't able to accommodate her accelerated learning pace, so this program has been a godsend. We did decide that once she finishes 5th grade math work on EPGY that we'll switch to AoPS and hire a math tutor to meet with her one on one. (My husband works at a school and is friendly with a lot of the math department).

We're on the fence about whether or not to keep her at her current school, so it's possible we'll be homeschooling full time next year. But EPGY does offer a comprehensive, complete math program and I really love the reports and grade level tracking.
