Murrayshire
I just received an email from Essentials in Writing about how they are working on an Essentials in Literature program for middle and high schoolers. Using EIW and EIL together will make up a high school LA course. I can hardly wait! Hope it comes out by next school year! Edit to add: EIW says that Essentials in Literaure should be available by the spring of 2016.
SparklyUnicorn
I'm using Essentials for the first time this year. It's working out pretty well.
Space station
This will get confusing! There is already an EIL...Excellence in Literature. The acronyms will have to fight it out! 😀
Guest
What? I thought it was being released next summer. BooHoo! Book choices?
sewingmama
Yes I got that email a few days ago. I'm excited for it and since my kids are young and it starts in middle school they will be able to use it. I wish there was a little more info in the email though....I'm wanting to know more and there were zero details.
Peaceful Isle
I want to know more too! Sounds interesting. 😃

MrsRobinson
Yay! Mine are still little so hopefully it will be done and all the bugs worked out by the time we're ready for it. We just started EIW Level 1 this year and dd loves it!
Guest
I called the other day. The first two levels that MIGHT be released late summer 2015 are 8th and 9th. I didn't ask what the book titles were, though. Sadly, it's coming out a year too late for us to use it. Son 2 needs 9th NOW.

MerryAtHope
I talked with their office a week or two ago, but nothing new beyond what's already been mentioned here (no dates given on the first two levels being released either). Pretty much, I'll probably order for fall and then it will come out, LOL! I really can't wait to see what they've got though. EsIL sounds good :-) EsIW might be good to use too--EIW and IEW get so confusing and some people call IEW Excellence in Writing & use EIW for that, LOL!

How do we change it in the sticky above? For everyone interested in EsIL (and EsIW): I emailed them just two days ago and they said that Essentials in Literature is in current working progress. They are planning/guesstimating to have Level 8 out in August and Levels 7 & 9 out by September. They are hoping to have all levels 4-12 finished by next year! Mr. Stephens also mentioned that EsIL will not go any lower than 4th grade because younger kids' goals for reading should be to learn & love reading. Hope this answers some questions. Feel free to keep checking their website or email them if you have any questions. I will post release here if nobody else does it first! Also, post any news you find out, here! 😀

Murrayshire
I emailed about getting information on book lists they are planning to use. They do not have this available at this time. We'll just have to have patience.

I just want to be a fly on the wall and find out if any of the books I'm planning on using this year might be in their list (or, conversely, if any of the books they're planning are ones I'll want to use instead!) patience patience patience
Murrayshire
Great News! Mr. Stephens from EIW is getting ready to launch a webinar on August 4th about Essentials in Literature. They are taking only 100 people for the webinar. I got this message through email. Not sure if they are advertising it on their EIW site. So you may want to sign up for their news by email from their website to learn more. Here is the sign up link but don't know if it will transfer over..... https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/6787511046364218881?inf_contact_key=ceb5ab66c4bc7d8ea84ee6fc633d3d2dbfe2b90d796b5d75a6cf30ad3059e723&splash=false He didn't say what grades are being launched but did say that after the webinar, the Essentials in Literature website will go LIVE!
BusyMom5
I got this e-mail, too. I hope someone here will take part and give us a summary of the program! I am starting EIW w/ 2 of my kiddos, and am excited by what we've done so far! I still need literature for my 7th grader, so maybe this will be the one!?!?! TN Mama
FYI - http://essentialsinwriting.com/essentials-in-literature/ Level 8 is out. Night by Elie Wiesel is the novel used for the novel unit. There is a small sample online. Next levels to come out 7, 9, and 10. They hope for these to be released by fall 2016. I think they will release as they become available, not waiting to release these 3 until next fall. They had hoped to record the webinar yesterday, but due to technical difficulties that did not happen. Another webinar to be hosted on Thursday, August 6th at 2pm central.Cost for the next 30 days is $97 for the student workbook, parent/teacher guide, dvd, and novel. Cost will increase to $107.
StartingOver
I am so very excited about this, can't wait to hear some reviews. As my kids need a lower level. We will be waiting a while and jump into 5 or 6, when they are done hopefully.

threeofakind
I am excited too, ordered level 8 for my 7th grader. If we like it enough we will just get level 7 for 8th grade.
