Just got my math club in a box

If you're sponsoring a math club with at least 4 middle school age kids, you can order it from MathCounts, free of charge. It contains a nice book of games and activities, dice, and other items, plus access to a lot more online. There are also challenges to become a silver or gold level club. It's a super-nice freebie, to say the least.

Memphis says that it's "America's Distribution Center" on the signs into town for a reason. It rarely takes more than a couple of days to get anything here because so much freight comes through here anyway. Lego online is almost ridiculous. Except for Pick A Brick, every US-based order, including those to stores, enters the USA at Memphis, so when I place an order, it usually arrives the next business day. A couple of times, if I've placed an order in the morning, it will actually arrive the SAME DAY-which makes me wonder if they bothered to put it on the Fed Ex ground truck, or just had an employee swing by my house on the way home!

Anyway, I think you'll like it-it seems like a lot of nice games for small/medium sized groups, and it seems pretty user-friendly. Actually, seeing DD's reaction, I'm thinking I may just turn the kids loose on it. It's a lot more game/puzzle based than some of the other materials I've found, even on MathCounts own website.

If you search the previous years club materials on the Mathcounts website, you can find links to the games and activities from previous years. There's a lot of fun activities from previous years available. I've been getting the Club in a Box for several years now and it's always a lot of fun - different hands on stuff each year. (However, you do have to sponsor a math club with at least 4 middle schoolers to get the box).
