Gil
Any suggestions for kids/family films?
Liz CA
Monarch of the Glen was from Scotland but it's not really a kid film. It deals with issues like adultery. Many episodes are very funny though and the adultery topic is not overdone. Maybe this will help: http://www.scottishkidsshow.com/
gaillardia
The Secret of Roan Innish; it does have a little kid running away without a stitch of clothing on, several times.

Kerileanne99
The Man Who Went Up a Hill and Came Down a Mountain... http://m.imdb.com/title/tt0112966/ Hubby, who is from the UK suggests Goodbye Mr. Chips, but warns it is about a boys school and it covers some somewhat heavier topics... klmama
One thing about The Englishman Who Went up a Hill.... Since you were looking for a family movie, you may want to know that that there is a character (Morgan the Goat) who has fathered many children in the community while the husbands were gone, evidenced by all of the young children with his same red hair. It may go over your dc's heads, but it may not.

I had forgotten that...but it is one of those more subtle types of humor than your average fare:)
gaillardia
I haven't seen this one, Stone of Destiny, PG, 2008; but it looks fun and stars Robert Carlisle (sp?); Kate Mara and Billy Boyd. It is listed as an adventure movie.
Laura Corin
Look out for the Katie Morag television series, based in Scotland.
domestic_engineer
Although there's no talking involved & it's technically from the UK ... Shaun the Sheep is always good, clean fun for the entire family. You can watch episodes online through Amazon. Leap Year is a clean movie that is set in Ireland. VeritasMama
Secret Garden, the lead is American but everyone else and the locale is English. I'm talking about the film adaptation from the 90's. How Green Was My Valley is set in Wales, it's a family drama with some heavy themes, but a classic film for the whole family. The Water Horse involves a "Loch Ness Monster" and is set against WWII, but it is a children's movie. We love anything with Wallace and Gromit. Really, I love them. It is stop animation but clever enough for the whole family. This team also made Chicken Run and Flushed Away. Technically Mary Poppins and Bedknobs and Broomsticks aren't British films, but I'm an Anglophile and I like to pretend they are :). ETA: I just realized you wrote English language and not English, sorry for the English film suggestions.
