Spanish Tests or Something Else

My son is starting Breaking the Barrier Spanish this year.  It is going amazingly well.  I am sort of not prepared for how well it is going.  I figured we would just dabble with it, go through really slowly, not really fixate on the language at all.  As such, I did not purchase the 20 dollar test packet.  We were never going to give high school credit for the program (not in 5th grade), so it seemed rather moot.  I figured we might cycle through it again in a year or two and then do the tests when he was really tackling the language.

Now I am looking for a way to test.  It does not have to be pencil and paper - I would in fact rather it not be pencil and paper.  These few years before technical middle school seem like a great way to have a bit more fun with things.

Any ideas?

The other option is to get the test booklet.  Give him tests and set aside the information in case of early graduation.  This could technically be seventh grade if we were going to graduate him early and as such, he could get credit for it.  That just seems a bit crazy since he is like nine.  I mean, not terribly crazy since this is a high school text and he is totally rockin' it.  More just a bit weird for me.

So let me have it...am I crazy?  What do you think?  Any ideas on fun testing?

What about something on quia such as this, http://www.quia.com/pages/mvancamp/page17

That was just the first one that popped up in my search for anything on quia, which Lukeion uses.

It actually looks so similar to Lukeion's version that teachers must be given the same sort of templates.

These are fun activities. I'll have to search around on Quia for a bit to see what I can find.  I haven't spent much time looking at the program before.  Thanks!

I think there's a National Spanish Exam. I'm probably going to have my DD start taking the NLE so I have some outside validation of her Latin.

This looks really good!  I'll have to see if I can wrangle up the $80 it takes to proctor the exam or if I can find someone in the area who might give the test.
